Yeah, you have to be at war to avoid influence victories. Also, all of my games seem to end in tech victories or influence victories, for some reason. Those influence resources are ridiculously powerful.

Frogboy is the carefree playboy persona, with lots of stock options. Draginol is the "Batman" type, grim, gritty, determined, and... he has a D in his name. Also, like I said, I suspect hes trying to get on the payroll twice .

Ya, it was probably after. Anyway, back to the subject of Frogboy's multiple personalities: Maybe if Galciv2 sells enough copies, we can get him some therapy ? Froginol! (because Dragboy sounds a bit... err... nevermind -_-).

Btw, when you say "we" do you mean you and Draginol ? I'm starting to suspect that this whole double identity thing is just an attempt to get on the payroll twice .

" I'm actually a big champion of "when it's done", being a fan of id Software and all (the guys who made that date famous)." Date? I assume you mean "quote"... and I always thought that was Blizzard . Id software (at least as far as I am concerned) will be remembered for the endless mandatory Quake patches that fixed problems I didn't have.

This of course brings up a rather nasty issue: the fact that surgeons know more about the human body, which we did not create, than computer programmers know about computers, which we DID create. Why is it that if I have an internal injury, a surgeon can x-ray me, find the problem, cut me open, fix the problem, and send me out within a week or two, but if I have a windows problem, the answer is "reinstall, update your drivers, reboot, reform

"But I noticed the developer Draginol building research labs first instead" Have you been stalking him, or what? "The colony ships seem to travel automatically faster without the cost of upgrading them once you've researched faster engines. " Whatever it is that you're smoking, keep it away from me .

Ya, it just happened to me. It seems that if your resource point production is far in excess of what is required for a given tech, you will get that tech plus a bonus toward future techs. If that bonus is large enough, you'll essentially get "free" techs when you research the first tech.

"Actually that is on purpose to force you choose one weapon and defence branch and not to have everything." Unless you have high diplomacy skill . "wait until space weapons has been at 1 week for a while and then research it… you’ll get 5-6 extra techs" Hmm, really? Interesting. That explains a lot.

Try hippie music. It worked in the 80's. Oh, and also, search the galaxy for any influence resources, then gain control of them- by hook or by crook.

Reply to Pirates in Game Talk

Of course pirates exist, didn't you hear about the recent starforce controversy ? Seriously though, pirates ARE exceedingly rare. Kinda sad, actually. I wouldn't mind having to deal with them once in a while.

Every kind, but they are most effective against beam weapons.

On the other hand, if you tax them unto oblivion but then use that tax money to rush-build harmony crystals and the like, the net effect is one of high taxation AND high happiness. Dead cows make good steak! .

Heres a good rule of thumb: Never build farms. Ok, want something more specific? Unless your planet is at or above 12, don't build a single farm. Oh yeah, and just take the maximum allowed bonus to economics and morale, and you will be able to have the spending slider alllll the way over to the right, AND get away with taxing your people unto oblivion. And once you start getting certain techs/galactic resources,

Seriously, has anyone EVER used ... geez I don't even remember the name, exactly... the "Omega Defense" structure? And I mean really *used* it? I mean, maybe on painful difficulty...
