Here's from tonight playing with my kids. Worked on the AI today so that next week hopefully we'll have a more aggressive AI. For me, strategy games ARE the AI. Everything else can be X's and O's but the game needs to have a good AI which is why we want to have as much time as possible to perfect it. <

Okay guys, we're heading out for the evening. We won't be around too much over the holidays as Stardock is closed until Tuesday. We will read posts when we get back and probably some of us will check out things here. But there won't be any new updates to the game until we get back. Have a happy Easter!

Running at 1600x1200 In the prefs.ini in the data directory you can set the resolution you want the game to run at (eventually there will be a neat little gadget program that lets you set your in-game resolution). Right now we

If you pre-ordered, you should receive an email with directions on how to get Stardock Central, type in your serial # in (tools->register products in Stardock Central). You will also need to select tools->Check for updates to make sure it gets the latest build. Here are some other links: <A href="https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?Forum

We are working on a couple more builds for tonight to put up based on initial feedback and our own experiences. Here are the things we've found already: 1) Playing as certain races can cause crashes. 2) If you have DirectX 9 but not DirectX 9c, the game will crash on start-up (you WILL need DirectX 9C installed, but we need to provide a dialog to tell you that). 3) Ships not showing up in the start port thingy to launch (i.e. you build a ship, you can't see whe

We don't have a formal manual written on the game. You can, however, still make use of the Galactic Civilizations I manual to get some of the basics: https://www.galciv.com/download/gcmanual_pdf.zip Send SmartException reports to: [email protected] Setting up a game: Beta 2 In Galactic Civilizations II you start a new game by choosing "New Ga

Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords Beta 1 Notes. Introduction The goal for this first beta is largely compatibility. Galactic Civilizations II has a very new 3D engine that takes advantage of the latest features in 3D hardware. While we have attempted to test it on a wide range of video hardware, there will be video cards that it won't work on. In addition, we are looking for general performance feedback. For most people, Galactic Civiliza

We took a poll of 866 potential Galactic Civilizations II buyers on which feature they most wanted in Galactic Civilizations II. The results were: Ship Design: 38% Fleet Battles: 21% Better Colony Management: 15% Multplayer: 12% 3D Engine: 8% Space Terrain: 7% So we looked at these things when deciding what features to put into Galactic Civilizations II and looked at the cost of developing them. At the top of the forums there is a new tab called "Beta Reports". Stardock.net forums are a little bit different from your typical quickie-BBS forums you see on most sites. The top-most forum contains all the newest info from each sub-forum. So if you want to get into a specific forum, you can click on a particular sub-topic and discuss just that. For making beta reports, make sure your post goes into the category:GalCiv II discussion with the topic: Beta Reports.
