Don't worry, we haven't even started the usability stuff. That won't really get going until this Fall.

S tockholm, June, 2005 - Paradox Interactive, a leading publisher and developer of critically acclaimed strategy titles, today revealed another addition to their solid portfolio. The company is proud to announce that they will be publishing the sequel to Galactic Civilizations, Galactic Civilizations II, in Europe. The title is scheduled for release around Feb, 2006. "Galactic Civilizations was a hit worldwide and we know the franchise has many fans i
Paradox and Stardock are teaming up on Galactic Civilizations II. They're the company that has made excellent games such as Hearts of Iron II, Europa Universalis, and more recently Knights of Honor. Paradox is in charge of publishing Galactic Civilizations II throughout Europe. You can click on the link below to check out their forums for the game.
haha. Everything should be available at 1024x768.
Blizzard has released the official World of Warcraft Desk
One thing to be aware of: 1024x768 is the minimum screen resolution for the game.
I don't want to give that info out but suffice to say that it's designed so that the typical user shouldn't have to worry about it.
activation is a good idea but very crapy in reality...look at HL2 and steam They didn't have the advantage of having an open beta.
There's a discussion on how to solve the activation issue over at https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=78353
By 8pm EST tonight beta 2 should be available and it's using our new (and largely untested in a large scale) distributed network environment we've been working on for the past several months which should, in theory, provide secure downloads at very very high speeds. You download via Stardock Central. However, if it doesn't work for you, report here. Some things to make sure of: 1) Make sure you pre-ordered the game already or have an active TotalGaming.n
Beta 2 of Galactic Civilizations II should be available by 8pm EST to those who have PRE-ORDERED the game. But as a bonus (cough cough) you'll also get to beta test the new Stardock.net backend which is being prepped for TotalGaming.net Phase 2 which is due out next week. You will be amongst the first (okay, the f
Before anyone asks, we expect to have beta 2 available by this evening.
Check out this preview from Wargamer!
If you're into turn-based strategy games set in space, check out the screenshots of the upcoming Space Empires V. They're looking pretty good.
The biggest thing affecting us is literally logistics. We are physically packing up the office. This stuff was supposed to be in April but the new building wasn't ready then. That's why we didn't have a beta drop scheduled for April was becasuse we expected to be moving then. Beta 2 will be a bit mroe "mature" than it was originally expected to be so more screens will likely be in than originally planned since schedule-wise we're on target skill for features.
anyone who has pre-ordered the game will have access to beta 2. We will be stopping NEW people from getting beta 2 at the end of the month. The current beta 2 date is June 14th.
E3 tends to put a monkey wrench in things as things have to be prettied up for the press. The other thing going on that was not anticipated is that our company is physically moving to a brand-new building. You want to tal about slippage -- we were SUPPOSED to be in that building "no later" than March 31. But construction and finishing of the building took them longer than expected and now migration is occuring in the middle of our beta 2 phase.
Probably not.
We have some good news..and some bad news. The good news is that Galactic Civilizations II beta 2 will have more features than originally discussed. The bad news is that it won't be available until the second week of June. The reason for this is that Stardock is in the process of moving to a brand-new building. Originally, this move was to take place in April as to not affec
As part of the E3 coverage of Galactic Civilizations II, we met with a lot of really great people from the industry. But amongst our favorite people to meet were the guys at GamesFirst who were particularly familiar with this genre of gaming. Check it out.
Yep, that's about the right time frame. I left E3 and went directly to another trade show (IT ChannelVision). When I get back, I'll have a better idea where the team is on the beta.
Stardock was showing off two games at this year's E3. Galactic Civilizations II, of course, and a new game called Society. Society won't go into beta until after Galactic Civilizations II ships. But you can check out some details on it: Gamespy First Look Gamespot impressions </LI
Gamespot has some screenshots of the upcoming Beta 2 of Galactic Civilizations II. The interface has been significantly changed and many other tweaks. Beta 2 will be available to those woh have pre-ordered the game in about two weeks.
Glad you like the concept. As things progress, we'll be able to lay out more of the game mechanics that we think you guys will really get a kick out of. A lot of the energy is going ito making it fun to play over hte long haul. Fighting wars is only one aspect that you would do only about as often as you kill creatures in say World of Warcraft. Much of the time is spent building up your society, trading with other players, negotiating treaties, managing your society'
