If these questions are answered elsewhere, I cannot find it, so please point me in the right direction with a link. As well, because I have not gotten too far in a game, some of these questions and suggestions may sound trite to advanced gamers -- please be patient with me.
1) How many ships are actually pre-designed in the game? I have only gotten to Defender class. Will there be better Defender class ships, or do I manually upgrade the base defender?
2) Once I upgrade the Defender, i.e., Defender II, does the base Defender "disappear" or remain available as a cheaper model on my build list? I mean this for the current game and for future games as well.
3) Knowing what future ships are built into the game and will be available will save me the time of designing my own ships only to have them become redundant with a couple more techs researched.
Can we have "ghosted" ships in the build list that tell us what to expect, what we need to research to get them, and what features those ships will possess? (Similar to the tech tree on the research screen)
4) When I make a ship obsolete, it is off the build list. If I change my mind or whatever, is there a way to put it back on the build list to be chosen again for construction (a la GC1)?
5) I presume the delete key only works on self-designed ships and not pre-designed ships. Is delete absolutely permanent or just for the current game?
I would like to see base or lower class ships remain available, maybe automatically sent to the obsolete ship list, even if upgraded. Low finances later in the game may require a retro fleet rather than a few of the best and brightest ships. Again, GC1 allows us to bring back earlier ship designs off the obsolete ship list. You can tell I really like this feature and hope it remains in the final version of GC2.
Now about files on the computer. Can our personally designed ships be placed in a MOD folder to be preserved through upgrades to the game? We have to do complete uninstall / re-install to have the game operate at optimum. Trying to find my ships in the ShipCfg folder to copy and save is tedious, not to mention the Shipclass files in the Data folder. If they are automatically writen to a subfolder that can be copied and saved before an unistall, this will save the heartache of losing ships and the headache of rebuilding them with a new game version.
Thanks for any answers and for taking my suggestions into consideration.
