Throwing this idea in,

I have for galciv 1 butr it wasnt implemented.

Hi,

I know diplomacy is far off, but using galciv1 as modle I believe you will be able to trade ships. Now what I wanted in galciv one was to have your ship graphic not change when you give your ship to another empire, just have its color change. That way everyone knew who is suppling who with arms This is interesting concept, but didnt generate any debate. Now I pitch it agian for galciv2. Ofcourse you would have to plant it in AI too so they recognize what it means so then they can make threats agianst you for supplying their enemies, and you would know which AI to bust for collaboration. This could add a nice responsibility angle to the game, where you face consequences from trying to help a side while claiming to be neutral.

Its a nice idea, I like it. Also the graphics would very likely remain the same in GC2 due to custom ship design. My ships can now be totally unique with weird and ridiculous configurations, so the design couldn't practically change if I traded the ship.

I'd love to be threatened by the Altarians for supplying arms to their nemesis the Korx.

Hmmmm...I think that it does just change the colors when you trade a ship.

Hmmm yeah that would make sense... But then that presents another problem. Since all the ships are different, how will I know that the ship I'm fighting belonged to another empire? Or is the AI going to stick to certain designs so I can see a pattern?

Mabey one of your "advisors" will pop up in a window and point out that the Drengin are useing a Yor design.

Excellent suggestion! I wholeheartedly endorse the idea, and am gladdened by your response, CariElf. (the same look / different paint job idea also has a nostalgic, MOO2 feeling to it.) Also, in respect to the identification of traded ships, it could be handled in three ways that I can think of at this moment:

a.) an automatic advisor pop-up, as Beta Testa suggests,

b.) overall observation of ship design trends (this is assuming that a.) you've seen the ship designs of the originator race, and b.) all ten "stock" races have distinct ship aesthetics. Not being involved in the beta, I sadly don't know the answer to the second point.)

c.) (My Suggestion ) through espionage. This option would not only let you know *who's* trading ships, but also *how many* and/or *what type!*

I think the plan is for each major race to have its own aesthetic but they aren't all in yet.
