There's been talk of food distibution, supply routes etc etc, and i was wondering whether a simple way to look at how the 'pineal' logistics of an empire operate (eg food distribution, resource harvesting, exchange of ideas, tax collecting etc etc) would be to connect these functions to your area of influence. Thus all starbases and planets inside your area of influence are fully serviced - but planets and starbases outside your area of influence become "blockaded" and it is this blockade from your culture's pineal logistics that causes the loss in morale, wanting to get cuddly with the Yor etc. The player then has to develop means to wrest the influence back.
This idea could then be expanded to give certain automatic military advantages inside or outside of your area of influence eg speed, attack/ defence bonuses etc.
This would then tie all logistic techs into a cultural victory??? are logistics an expression of culture???
