I have not noticed any information on how Fog of War was going to be handled in GC2. I have a few thoughts on the topic. I have seen several different implementations of Fog of War.
1) In some cases, once an area was visited (but you no longer had a presence there) you could always see what was there just as if you had a presence there still.
2) In some cases once you no longer had a presence you could only see what was there for worlds, details of what was there as far as colonies, etc. was not kept.
3) The best that I saw left a view of what you had last seen and an indicator of how old the data was. I liked that because once an area had been scouted you still had some idea of what had been there. Additionally if you were able to list scouted systems sorted by age of scouting reports you could decide when you needed to rescout an area.
4) Another option, which could be used in conjunction with the one above, would be some sort of remote observation. You might be able to gain updates using some sort of device you've built on a planet or into a starbase. This might, at least initially, use regular light so that the data on viewed systems would be out of date based on the system's distance from the observation post. This option could potentially be installed into scout ships to give them a greater viewing range but some limits on what could be viewed and how current it is. Of course, this might be too complicated to implement due to having to keep a log of each system's condition every turn and giving players their limited, dated view. But it is an idea and I wanted to put it forth.
Of course, you may have something totally different in mind already. I just wanted to check to see what was happening in this area and put in my two cents worth.
