X3GC2 - Rise of the Gerandor Republic Mod for Twilight of the Arnor

X3 as a strategy game, a real total conversion

Hi everybody,

 

the Rise of the Gerandor Republic Mod for GC2 Twilight of the Arnor comes closer.

It is a Total conversion of the Game X3 Reunion, and is thought to let you play the X universe from another perspective, from a Leader of a race.

This Mod is what you really understand as a Total conversion, it completely replaces GalCiv 2 with X3, adding a lot of new features and story to the game.

After a long pause, we are very close to bring this mod out as a beta.

This will be a big Mod with lots of new ships, video material and the best, impressive Weapon effects you ever have seen in a Galciv2 Mod =o)

The whole X-Universe in GalCiv 2 !

There were a series of games called X X2 and X3 that came out. I never played them myself, but they look interesting. They are using the games as back to create a whole universe built on it...and they are doing a great job at it.

Were thet 4x type games like GalCiv, cuz I've never heard of them.

hey, thanks for the compliment, no the X saga is a Space Simulation, allowing th player to Trade, Fight, Build and Think, you can choose between Cargoships, Fighters and Battleships or you build your own space stations to produce goods which you can sell.

There's a lot of Trade in it but also nice battles.

This game has a huge and very detailed story over thousands of years, thats why I've chosen to make a mod of it in GC2.

And the mass amount of features in GC2 Twilight of the Arnor allows me to nearly convert every dust particle of the X Universe into GalCiv2

I will try to put out a first Beta by end of August, with the current progress it's a possible release termin. You can support us by beeing our Fan, that encourages us a lot

I didn't think one was allowed to use another game's assets like this because it is a breach of copyright. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Interesting nonetheless. I have X3 and while I've never really gotten into it because of time constraints it always looked like an interesting game with some cool ship designs.

An official permission always is a big 'selling point' for amibtious mods like this! Now we can be sure that the project won't be closed down half-way because of some company lawyer.

Sorry I didnt get the scoop on the X games right, I had never heard of them before this and honestly the first time I saw your post, I thought you were making a conversion based on X-com haha. Which would be ok in my book too! Actually, my custom human race takes off from there as I play from the end of the first game(in my own little world that is). We have just beaten them back, come back from Mars, and have decided that we dont want to be invaded anymore. Thus we start making ships...Sorry...its a bad habit I have of making rp ideas for every game I play. Drives my wife nuts lol

I'm looking forward to this. I have all of the Gal Civ II series and I have X3 Reunion.  The graphics in X3 are excellent as is the 3D space simulation. 

Will your Mod be turned based or real time?
