I'm one of those players who loves to document his games. It serves as a reference for me when I take a day or two off from the role of Galactic Emporer, so I know where I left of. Plus, its a nice aid for storyboarding for fanfic.
I REALLY like the Event Log that already exists, but I find that it isnt verbose enough for me, and i would LOVE to add my own event entries in their, so I could use it like a journal for my conquests.
If possible, in some future release, if you have a intern or co-op in need of something to do, perhaps you could squeeze in the ability for the user to add his own notes to the Event Log.
I propose that it could work as follows:
ADDING ENTRIES
- Either an [Add Entry] Button and/or Double Click in an empty space in the Event Log to enter a new line, max string length equivalent to what the max is for the records generated by the system.
- At new line creation, use current game date (e.g. 1.1.2227).
- Handle repeat entries for same date the same as they currently are when system generates entries for the same date.
EDITING EXISTING ENTRIES
- Only User created entries should be editable, using either an [Edit Entry] control, and/or double click on existing user entry.
- Only Entries for the Current Game Date should be edited. Once the date changes (new Turn), they should be read only. This is so that you don't need to muck around with inserting, removing and resequencing journal entries.
- Constrained by the above logic, DELETING a record can be done through a button control, and/or simply deleting all characters from the entry field.
OTHER OPTIONS
- Either the possibility to print and/or a generated text file, tab delimited [DATE] [ENTRY] for each record, so that we can store our logs
I remember that there was going to be a story generator with DA, but it turnded out this was unrealistically complex to pull off. This would be a nice compromise for those of us that had been really excited about this feature.
If you are interested in this idea, or have any other comments or suggestions, please speak up here. If I am the only one that likes this idea, then there should be no reason to waste resources on it.
Thanks for listening!
