Quick and Dirty multiplayer Mod

Not a thread about the merits of having multi or not.

Just wondering if anyone has found a way to play multiplayer games of GalCiv2+expansions. Basically in any format.

and what do i mean by multiplayer ?

Both players logged into a map
Both players can act exactly the same as a regular single player game.
Turn is finished when both players click the TURN button (one waits for the other)

Nothin fancy just a quick and dirty way of 2 people playing 2 differnt races on a map. Myself and a friend would love to play a slow and epic game of GalCiv on a really big ass map, few hrs a week in our spare time, the whole waiting for the other person isnt an issue as we'll be in teamspeak or ventrillo abusing the slower person to click the turn button which in itself will be fun.

I cant imagine this would take very long to code and implement I mean we talking a basic net connection protocol, the other player is treated like an AI form the point of view of the person playing so the game wouldnt know the difference except that 2 of the X races playing are being controlled instead of just one. Hell I dont even need a global chat.

Even more basic a P1 turn email P2 turn email P1 turn etc would be better than nothing, and yes sure there are other multiplayer turn based games out there like Civ IV but nothing is really as good as GalCiv2 at the moment especially in the space arena.

Anyone ? maybe a bored dev magned to knock somthing like this up in a spare afternoon to play somone else in the office ?

If it wouldn't take very long to code and implement it probably would have been done by now.

Sorry, there is no way to play the game that way. And it is not something that can be 'modded' in, at any rate.

It's a shame , you can only play with yourself for so long no matter how well scripted an AI is.

Oh well guess I'll keep my finger crossed for a sins/galciv hybrid to come out. Although I must say sins with everything turn'd down to its lowest speed does give more of an epic feel to it and a more tactical one too boot.

You CAN use a single computer to play a game with multiple people via the debug commands. Simply start your game as normal, play your turn and use the debug commands to switch to another civ and let your friend(s) have their turn, and so on. Not good for competitive people vs. people play, but should work for coop vs. ai, if a little messy. Technically could be done via email or a VNC too i suppose.

My Documents\My Games\....somewhere somewhere... That'll get you in the right direction. I'm not at home to spit it out 100%.
