I seem to remember being able to resubmit a game to the MV once, but this one would not let me. At any rate, I care not to attempt this grind again. I enjoyed the challenge, though I would never choose a setup like that on my own!

I know as recently as last round I was able to resubmit. May have just been something at the time, you yet may be able to resubmit it.

Yes you should be able to resubmit once. In some cases the MV won't take the game but will if you try again later. At other times it will take the game but not immediately update the score.

Not sure which of these conditions you have but waiting a few hours seems to help in both cases.

2) Backing it up, yes I did state how I felt a certain level of snobbery at the Core. I also have a high level of despise for some individuals. Thats my opinion. I treat everyone cordially, and haven't gotten into any spats, nor do I plan to, but if I never had to listen/see/hear/read what some of these individuals think they have to say, I'd be very ok with that.

3.) I actually find the ToE forum set up MUCH easier to navigate than the Core forum setup.

5.) VERY sorry Ghostwes; I should have PMed you to see what you were doing for this round. I usually stay on top of those kind of things. I hope that you continue playing with us here.

6.) Yeah, this Round was a *female dog* wasn't it?
-Actually if you really look at the setup for this Round you'll see that everything has a Counter. Tech victory but no tech trading; Common Habitable Planets but only Rare Stars; Super Abilities in DA but Mega Events enabled. There is always a price to pay for everything in life.

PS: And oh yeah, for any one that missed the Memo, I wasn't skirting my duties...I may have been chasing skirts lol, and drinking at 11am in the morning...wow, Vegas was awesome (and side note, if you can ever go see the Cirque de Soleil Beatles' "Love" show, DO IT!) but now its back to 30' Indiana...c'est la vie

Actually this concept is used by many people in many different ways. I think this may come up as a future topic of concern. The thing is that there is an element of degree to this. Is an isolated save and reload to avoid a game destroying event a problem. Very doubtful.

However is saving and reloading the game many times trying to achieve a benefical event each and every turn of the game a problem? This is much more problematic. The thing is where would you draw the line? If this is not OK then what difference is using ctrl-n?

I think the potential division that we had about ARC and Straw men could easily be surpassed by looking too closely at this issue. In some sense I see this activity as it's own punishment. If you want to re-load the game 50 times per turn to get a beneficial event, then fine do so.

The reason I bring this up is that I honestly don't think it's in the best interests of the league to go down this path and I would prefer to adopt a "don't ask, don't tell" policy in this regard. However if people really feel this is something that should be explicitly addressed then of course we should do so.

you know guys...this is all getting rather petty to me. At this rate we may as well all play Dread Lords with stock races and very specific map instructions and have each turn specifically spelled out so we can avoid any possibility of any person having any control of what and how they play


as a side note, the only reason i was able to win one attempt was because of the Jagged Knife. I am of the personal belief that we make our own luck, and that if, sorry the cliche', life hands you lemons, go grab some sugar and water and make some lemonade. Or in some wise words I read in a book somewhere "you reap what you sow"

Yeah, I thought about this very thing a while ago, but thought it a dog best left lying. I still feel that way. I don't think there is any reason to delve into it, reloading has been used in all games since the beginning of gaming. Policing it would be rediculous. And how then would a reload of an old save after a CTD be ruled? Meh.

For me, the League offers the motivation to try something I wouldn't normally try and to show what I can do with it. Whittling things down to precisely what is and isn't fair puts competition at the forefront which is *not* the main reason I've been participating in the MVL games. This isn't the NFL, it's the MVL. Competition is fun and things should should be reasonably fair, but specifying exacting setups and play would take a lot of the the fun out of it.

I believe any rules should take a minimalist approach to offer the broadest possible avenue of strategy. Rules limiting specific strategies or gameplay should only be posted when absolutely necessary.

BTW, this discussion should be taking place in the rules thread since it obfuscates the submission of games here. I do like to look at other peoples games as well.

I think for a situation like this, all we can do is assume our fellow MVL members are playing in a way that could be described as fair, ethical, and within the bounds of good-sportsmanship. If some people arent, and feel that they want to engage in practices that some would consider dubious, they are the ones who are losing-out the most.

There is not? This is the first complaint leveled at a commish since the start of the league. Please eleborate.

If you're talking about the Jagged knife event then using reload to avoid it is not an unreasonable thing in my mind, nor is it something that is or even should be prohibited in my mind. Is it abusable, probably.

The point is (and this is at least the tenth time that I've tried to make this point) that the primary purpose of the league is not about who wins and who loses. The primary point of the league is the benefit to everyone's game that plays in the league. You are a perfect case in point example of that.

Within the last 2 months you've gotten the benefit of advice that you could have received in no other way. Your game has shown dramatic improvement because of it.

Secondly and thirdly I would go with the simple fun of playing random games you otherwise wouldn't play and the overall camaraderie of your teammates and the league in general.

Only then after those benefits would I place the importance of the actual winning and losing. Sure fairness and a level playing field are important but they are nowhere near worth the effort that even just I've spent on your GC2 education so far, not considering similar effort spent by others.

We try to make things as level and fair *as possible* but for one thing we're playing two different games DL and DA. For another point we're playing many different levels. Have you heard a single suicidal player complain about a level playing field? No you haven't, yet we value the win at tough and the suicidal win exactly the same. Where is the fairness in that?

I think you should weigh the advantages that you've received by being in this league and compare them to whatever this drastic penalty is and I do believe that the advantages far outweigh the penalties. What could a penalty be? That you lose a game? That team A loses a round. Big deal! Who really cares?

Like I said you've received a GC2 education you simply could not get anywhere else. As my mother would tell me perhaps it's time to wake up and smell the coffee.
