Hi!
After several years I decided to play again the first GalCiv (not for OS/2, that game I couldn't made run). So I created an archive with SDC, copied that archive to my old portable (no way it can run GalCiv-2 with its 4 MB graphics card

), installed it with SCD, and started a large game. After some time I noticed a strange thing: there's NO EFFECT from my econ- and morale-mining starbase on my empire. There's also NO EFFECT from ANY morale or econ "wonder" I've built or bought. To test that I destroyed both heavily-upgraded (50%+ bonus) starbase. Not a single digit changed in my income, or in approval over several planets. There was no change also in the next turn. Then I destroyed several "wonders", with the same effect - no change. But what makes things really strange is mining other types of resources HAS its effect. My dreadnaughts have twice the firepower of other civs. If I increase my research from 30% to 60% I'm losing 1k money per turn (my econ makes ~3k, I run my empire at 65% spending to make 100 BC profit per turn). Very soon my ally Drengin will start losing his planets to my influence.
So what's going on? I don't remember ever having such problems with the game. Is this caused by the difficulty level (all races pen-ultimate inteligence)? Or is this just a strange bug? I know it's an old game, likely not played for a long time, but does anybody remember having something similar in his game?
