Don't know if #1 really counts as a bug, minor graphical annoyance maybe.

For #2, run the game in windowed mode. Alt-Tab does tend to crash the game, always has. That's not even specific to this game, either. I've played others that did the same.

Alt-Tab stability with most games I've played, unless there really is a critical bug, is usually related to available RAM and how much other stuff is running in the background. I just did a re-install of XP SP2 a few months ago to clear out DLL rot, and I try not to run too many background processes. It has 2gb RAM. I've always been able to Alt-Tab back and forth from GalCiv to the desktop with no trouble, including the current TA beta. OTOH, I don't play anything larger than medium or large galaxy maps, so maybe I'd see trouble if I was swapping out anything bigger.

I know it's annoying when someone posts something like that, when other people are having problems. But I guess the devs should know that it isn't affecting everyone.

I will try to reproduce it. I have 2G of ram, nothing else running (barely I mean) and I've always been able to ALT-TAB from DL and DA without any crash. That is why I posted it as a bug.

Well.. first everytime I mouse over the four corners of the screen, the view jumps around frantically for a while. I've experienced a couple random crashes in the first thirty minutes. Every single model view twirls around like a ballerina on caffeine. Destroyed enemy ships sometime s come back to life. Planet models in the planet screen continuously strobe whilst an inner model slowly shrinks down until it disappears and pops back in full size.. amongst other things..

This was a recent reinstall of the game. Plus I downloaded the fix to the pathfinding bug in DA although I am not sure that will have affected TA.

Planets and ships spinning out of control is most generally due to the use of an Athlon 64 x2 CPU without updated CPU drivers. If this the case with your machine, download and install the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) file found at the bottom of this page.

Please install 'SmartException' from the free stuff section in Stardock Central. Make sure that SE is running and start your game as normal. If the game crashes it will generate an exception report that can be emailed to [email protected].

Include in/attached to the email:
+ A description of what you were doing at the time.
+ How to reproduce the crash (if possible).
+ A zipped save (if applicable).
+ The appropriate debug.err file.

The devs cannot help if you do not provide these details!

I didn't have the time to try reproduce it, but I was going to do it with SmartException, don't worry
