OK, so after playing DA for the first time, I have a few comments on the graphics:
1. Why does Armor come in the form of small roundish modules like Shields and Point Defense? Shouldn't it cover the whole ship, maybe changing it's color a bit? With the others, you can understand that it's a shield generator or chaff launcher, etc., but with armor it just feels weird.
2. How come armor forms a red barrier between the ship and mass driver? This seems kind of ridiculous as well. IMO, the mass driver should hit the armored ship and bounce off or explode in a faint, harmless looking pop. Instead it hits a red shield which appears out of nowhere, and then explodes.
3. Photon Torpedoes are represented as shiny starry graphics, not missiles of any kind. I know it's a bolt of energy containing a warhead and that it's guided from quantum subspace, but this isn't an excuse for making them look like... shiny round ornament things.
4. Also, the missiles move too slow. For missiles that move at faster-than-light speeds, why do Photonic Torpedoes and Harpoons have that odd acceleration sequence when they start out really slow and become really fast when they near the target? Shouldn't they have a constant speed like mass drivers?
5. What controls the movement for the ships in the Combat Viewer? In one battle against the Yor, my ships didn't move at all. Their thrusters didn't fire and they just floated in one place, shooting missiles and throwing up point defense barriers until the Yor ships were dead. However, the Yor ships fired their thrusters and flew around my ships firing their own missiles until they exploded.
