Neutral Alignment Weapons & Defences?

I picked neautral alighment for the first time in my game last night. I realised it has an entry (on the screen where you choose your alighnment) that is like "Access to Unique Offensive & Defensive Technologies blah blah"

I know Evil get Psyonic lasers/missiles/mass drivers.

I know good gets "special" shields/armor/point defence.

What does Neutral get? I can't seem to find it and I've already finished Shields all the way up to Invulnerability and I'm as Subspace blaster in the beam-weapon list.

PS Why are the tech trees uneven in terms of how far they go? Missiles vs beams vs massdrivers and shields vs armor vs point defence?

Neutral gets nothing in that department. They're already powerful enough with free soil upgrades, morale bonus, research centers, higher interest rates for ships etc...
The various weapons and defenses behave differently. Much more so than one would think.

Neutral doesn't get special weapon or defensive tech, nor does it really need it considering its other advantages.
