Some Bugs and Suggestions for DA 1.50.059

Graphic Errors, Missing Infos, Race Customization

Hi I found a few issues in Dark Avatar (could also apply to Dread Lords):

BUGS:
- A bonus you get via a random event (this one happened on colonizing) is not shown anywhere. Its hard to remember every bonus on every planet if you have plenty of them or did not play for a while. I got a research bonus of 50% for example but I could not find it listed anywhere.

- The camera in full battles makes some weird things and is flickering and jumping to several positions in only one second (almost always at the end of the battle)

- Sometimes my ships fire on my own ships instead of the enemy ships! (just visuals) But the enemy gets the damage.

SUGGESTIONS:
- I am missing options for custom player races like thegood/evil setting

- If you hit the edit button for the predefined races there are still ability points you can spend. Will they be spent automatically or do I have to add the bonus if I like? Is it a bug or a feature to make enemies stronger? But you cant add additional points to custom made races? :/

Click on Details in the Planet screen and look on the right side. There is a list of bonus features the planet got. Note there are some more listed then only the ones you get from the random event.

If you want to play them, you should spend them, the AI does so, too.
If you play as a custom race you get more of theses points, but no predefined bonus.

I have seen such things too...

That flickering camera thing has been bugging the hell out of me since the beta... I would have thought it'd be fixed for the gold release!

Good/evil has never been a setting at the start of the game, even in Galciv1. That's by design.

But it would be nice to have a good/evil setting for custom races - predefinded races have them too. You cant change it but Yor are leaning to bad at the beginning of the game. Would be nice to have this for your own races too.

One minor thing: You can assign shiptemplates for AI players but why not for your own race? You can just select from the predefined styles and not your own style. (starting ships are alwys predefined style not custom)

Because all that does is tells the AI which templates to use when it designs ships, since it can't intelligently design attractive ships on its own. Being a human, you can use whichever templates you like.

I got something like that in my last game, too. During fleet actions, the enemy would start dealing damage to one of my frigates, but the shots would go after the dreadnought leading the fleet. So I'd be seeing my dreadnought getting pummeled until a frigate on the opposite side of the screen exploded despite looking like it hadn't been touched.

Two other things:

- If I name my shiptemplate "Starfury" it does not use my design. I get a compeltely different ship with the stats of my designed ship. It seems it is a predefinded template but not recognized as one because I can save a template with this name and delete it. If I use other predefined names I cant delete them.

(btw: some predefined ships have 2 weapons on it but only one is working - why is there no feature to add weapons and other components just as "visuals" without an effect or needing room in the edit mode?)

- After ALT+TAB all I get is a black screen when I go back into the game. I could Alt+Tab in previous versions without noticing any problems but its not working in DA anymore.

Have you tried waiting a bit? The game has to rebuild all of the models when you alt-tab out and back. If you plan to switch a lot, it's best to just play in windowed mode (even if you set it to full desktop size), as then it won't be dumping and reloading the data when you switch out.

Performance is generally reduced versus fullscreen mode.
