I wanted to see what the views were on modding DA already. I understand there are a lot of bugs to still work out and that modding a game that is already buggy isn't the best idea, and you won't always be contributing to finding problems in the game...
I wanted to know what everyone else (including developers thought). As I see it the modding community for GalCiv2 is a pretty big one, and mod testing should definately get done, because I notice mistakes that are coming up in mods, but that aren't coming up in regular play.
Now this could mean the mod is buggy itself, or that the "mod" portion of the game needs to be tested as well. I'm sure some of the things I've done are resulting in the bugs, but I'm also pretty sure some of these bugs I couldn't possibly fix at a moding level.
ie) Any new game I start my ships appear fine, any time I have to load a save game, not only are my old ships are not using the models (any new ones I build appear as normal), but the Computer races have all switched race styles or are not using ship models, now if I start a new game, they all use the proper style.
So, what are the thoughts on modding this early in DA? Its modding potential is vastly improved over GalCiv2.
Is there already a planned time in the beta phase where the developers will want to test out the modding side of it?
I'd be curious to find this out so any input, contstructive debate is welcome as long as the moderators approve of it
