What meaning does resource collecting have!? Resource collecting makes strategy games Dull. Dull with a capital "D"!!!!!! |
Well. The resources currently in the game give you a distinct advantage in one fashion or another in regards to military, research, economics, or morale for starters. A very good aspect to this game in my opinion.
Anomalies in another form could be considered as resource collecting. I mean you are going out of your way at the beginning of most games in order to get them. Giving you bonuses and extra cash that in the end also gives you a slight advantage during the game.
In my opinion it is a vital part of any strategy game. If not for that aspect of the game along with one or two others implemented by the Stardock team, it would have ended up being another shooter clone which to me, in my opinion, would have been a waste.
Galciv2 doesn't have that much resource collecting and has more of other stuff. |
Since everyone is talking about how "realistic" carriers would be in the game, and that is their best argument I can see thus far..... what about resource collecting? You need materials in order to build, money to build, fuel to operate, food to eat, damn, in that case just take out the freaking farms. You are just Resource collecting, oh, same with stock markets, take them out to while your at it. Fact of the matter is, resource collecting in one form or another is vital in creating a game that has strategic value.
Who knows what Stardock has planned for the asteroid mining bit. I feel confident enough that it isn't going to be something that is dull and boring.
As far as Carriers.... I care less either way, as I said this evening in another post, I could debate either argument but I play the game to play the game, not for carriers, for cloaking devices, for better planetary bombardment options, for multiplayer, or to see PaPa Smurf with a shotgun trying to make rabbit soup out of the Energizer Bunny.
Its in the game!
