I spend an hour or so editing a ship design, getting it just right and looking like I want it to. I deal with all the misplaced items that don't go where you tell them to go. I use the Ship info area and create something that looks like :
Cruiser, (2) Phasors, (2) Photon Torps Mark II, (1) Advanced Force Field, (1) Droid Sentries, (2) Warp Mark V Engines, Advanced Support.
I have to do this from memory since you can only change the Info when you click on save and that covers up most of the info tabs. It would be nice if you could update your Info without having to click on save. This would make it more useful that adding comments like "I bite." Once you save a design, there is no way to tell what tech it has except making educated guesses. I would hope this would change.
I would also hope that one day the Designer will show what tech the ship is equipped with. At the very least, show the item's description when you do a mouse over.
Anyway, I save the design as (example) Strike Cruiser II. I find out that I had a Strike Cruiser II from a previous game. I still want to use that name for continuity and so I keep classes of ships seperated so I can tell which need upgraded or scrapped. When I press SAVE, everything seems ok but too often when I go back later and click on the ship, it lokks different than what I designed. The hull is the same but the jewlery is messed up. When I try to fix it I find that the look of the ship bears no relationship to what is actually on the ship. Back to the drawing board and an HOUR wasted.
This has happned several times now. I hope it will be addressed soon.
