I have just started playing GalCiv II, using version 1.0.
When another race surrendered to me it dumped a couple of planets with 20 bil people and no factories.
The problem is it has a production rate of 2 (yes, I selected it otherwise it was 1) and I can only build "Industrial Sectors" which now require 400 weeks. Is there a way to build the basic factory first? Otherwise new planets are worthless. You would also think that with 20bil they would have a higher production level than the base rate that 0.1mil people can do.
Another problem I have encountered is when I research a new tech (like "Invention Matrix") it automatically upgrades other non-research buildings. This was a serious problem because it auto scheduled to upgrade several Xeno Farms to Invention Matrix and then promptly killed off 8b people per farm as they completed.
Reloading a saved game is very bugged.
Ship movement rates are listed as 0. (like 3/0)
Ships can always move again.
Research time on the current tech is wrong and will be through the next turn.
Project completion times on the planet list are wrong, corrected if go to the planet screen. Same with ship completion times.
I think there were other problems as well.
GalCiv II really needs a way to colonize those class 0 planets, not a population type planet but as a base. Having a foundation on rock, it should be larger and easier to defend than a starbase. Used for ship repair and supple base to extend your fleet range.
Given the problems I have had I still have not had a chance to really test the improved AI.
I like the ship designer good work on that.
The 3D combat piece was not worth the programming time at this stage, maybe it will lead to something useful down the road.
The surface combat needs lots and lots of help.
