Haha. I was going to make a post about this type of thing. The Super Race. Every game, one race becomes this unbelievably dominant powerhouse that is stronger in every category than all other races combined, and I play with 8 races. This race can fight simultaneous wars against every other empire and not only survive, but flourish. How the sweet F does a race have an economy 5 times better than mine when they have less planets, and i have a bit more population, and i have 2 maxed out econ resource bases. It's insane. They eat everyone up and yawn while doing it.

Same deal happened to me, I was just ranting about it in a bug thread. Same dea, the Krynn going culture happy and no one (but me) doing anything about it. But lucky for me the Krynn are all suffering from a degenerative brain disease because they can't wage a war to save their lives. Literally, because I'm slaughtering them with my flailing economy, weak science and the 3rd most powerful military in the galaxy (they're #1). The other AIs are worse I guess because as you say, they do nothing at all. The Krynn asked for peace a few times, but wouldn't give me anything for it. After I took half the map, I thought I could extort peace but now they won't even consider it for free.

AI Adjustments:

There area few races that tend to dominate. I have found that you can balance things out a bit by making some adjustments to each of their AI difficulties individually. You can either adjust some races up (which I prefer) or some down.

The Power houses (in my expereince):
- Thalan
- Arcean
- Terran

Theese 3 will adapt to any layout of galaxy or starting resourses. The other races tend to fall into line based on their starting locations. I cant comment on the Altarians as I always play that race (with pumped up economics, research and morale).

Cannon fodder:
- Iconian
- Torian

Theese 2 are always the first to get wiped out by the AI races in my expereince, usually followed the by the Yor, Drath, Drengin, Korx and Korath.

I typically play on tough and adjust the cannon fodder up to crippling or the power houses down to normal (depending on how ambitious im feeling).

Stacking the galaxy with war mongers will keep the AI's in fairly close competition also.

Diplomatic Tactics:

I can usually get anyone to war anyone I want by aranging for one of the war mongers to attack someone allied to the race I would like to see attacked. Especially in the late game, a war declaration can plunge the entire galaxy into war. If you cant get someone to war someone directly, you can do it indirectly by creating a conflict between your enemies allies.

Once you have successfully plunged most of the galaxy into war, you can manipulate exactly who you want into fighting someone else by paying the people you dont want involved to make peace. With others out of the picture, the AI will consider the odds stacked against them and will be more willing to negotiate waring someone they wouldnt before.

Thats the general tactic; see what you can do with it.

In your game with the Krynn, you may have been able to get the AIs to war with the krynn by forming alliances with your fellow dominated AIs. First you make peace with the krynn; then you ally yourself with various AIs. When war breaks out with you and the krynn, your allies will be dragged along (especially if your allies have a smiliar ethical alignment).
