You probably already did this, but make sure all your video options are on like bump mapping and all the textures. The game supports Resolutions at least up to 2560x1024. That's what I usually use, with horizontal span across two monitors. Most single monitors won't support that though.

@Feud : I lived in Jacksonville most my life, but lived in Bonifay(north of Panama City)for a while when I was kid. My Dad's side of family is from panhandle area.

I've had enemy planets at 15-20x Influence and stay just rebelling for years. Even after flipping the same Civs nearby planets with a lot less influence. I think its just the luck of the draw. I also noticed it kinda running in streaks, where several planets will flip within a short amount of time, then nothing but rebellions for a while. It usually comes back around though and I'll get them flipping again like before.

My first TBS addiction was probably the P.T.O. series on Genesis and later Saturn, but I did have one I played alot back on a 386. Can't remember the name, but Advance Wars on GBA reminds me of it. Great to see another Shadowrun Fan Fuels Chief. That's one of my all time favorites, still play it with an emulator on PC and still have the cartridge.

In your my documents/MyGames/galciv2 folder there is a Pref ini. file that you can open in notepad. You'll be able to manually change the resolution and just save. I had to recently do that when i changed my desktop resolution.

I usually just take tha crappy planets and give them a stock exchange, however many fit. No factory , maybe a farm or morale Improvement if I have room. Once built, set them to research focus for the few extra points and let them make money. Don't usually even protect them in anyway(not worth the effort).

I leave tech victory on just as an out, incase I either get bored or in trouble. I usually find it quite a smooth and quiet victory as the ai never has declared war on me during researching it. May be due to the fact by that point in the game my military keeps them shaking in their boots.

Well, last I heard. Earliest: Sometime late this month Realistic: Unknown Worst Case: As the devs are deciding how many features to include, out of the wealth of ideas they have. Could be after X-mas. WARNING: This is mostly hearsay and rumors, but there is always a little truth to those.

First time I cranked Luck up to max with the Political party and the race ability, I was able to get a precursor mine on my home world,(very rare for me) and raked in several 2500bc anomolies. Now I always keep at least 25% luck in all games.

I also watch the cycle then try to time a bit ahead of where I really want it stopped. Usually I get pretty good odds, rarely if ever do I get the really crappy ones I see rolling by. I need to try the blind method though, to see which works better. I

First, You can have up to four starbases per sector. Their bonuses do stack. The trade module upgrades efect freighters passing through their sphere of inluence, so it's a good idea to use them on your trade routes and around trade worthy planets. The military starbases attack modules are for self defense to a direct attack only. They don't reach out and attack enemies that pass by. Their main use is the ship assist modules that help boost your ships attack/defense/speed ratings.

I agree with Byram. The survey ship can be a midgame badass with enough anomoly bonuses after you upgrade to medium.

Must be some colors are more muted in one monitor than the other(dif. Brands). I changed my race color to an orangish color and the spheres show up great in both, so try a few different colors to see if some show up better if your having trouble seeing the spheres.

I run the game accross two monitors. Even though I've tried everything to get the monitors the exact same, I can see the constructors sphere a lot better in one monitor than the other. It's the only difference I can see between the two, but it is quite noticable. I thought it might be a monitor setting, but everything I've tried to get the sphere to show up better in the other monitor hasn't helped. Maybe it's just a monitor thing. I'm still not sure..

Copy Protection was just a small annoyance for a good while. Input a serial number here, done. Not bad. But as of late some of the systems are way to intrusive. I have most of Valves games up to Steam coming along. Even though I'm still an avid Team Fortress player, I will never buy another valve product as long as their cuurent system for single player games are in place. Call of Duty series is another I won't be dealing with as the installer searches your PC for anything it considers cracking

Thanks Magnumaniac. I remember the manual saying something about the the single or dual module memory,(can't find the man. at the moment) so I'll definately check that out. Would be awesome if it could handle more high speed RAM. Trying to get this mobo and Processor(XP 3000)to make it to early next year before I do the major upgrade. I can see GCII needs high end resources to run at peak performance, but I'm also pushing my current hardware pretty hard with it running at 2560x1024 a

Thanks for the reply. I've actually got a better vidoe card on the way. Be here Tuesday . I can't wait. I was thinking the same on the ram. seems more is always better.

I had a question bout more RAM , verses faster Ram . My Asus A7V8X-X can have up to 2GB of PC-2100, or 1GB of PC-2700, or 512 MB of PC-3200. I was wondering which option is best. Right now I have 512 and have to turn a lot of graphics settings down to play huge or gigantic maps in GCII. I was thinking of just going middle of the road til I get another motherboard. Any insights? Many Thanks.

On the surrendering. Not sure if it is fact or fluke, but I went through a period where I would give a civ. a few old ships or something when they ask for help. It seemed to really up my chance of them surrendering to me, as I had it happen several times while using that strat.

Once you select the show user ship tab on the shipyard and build window, you never have to see the core designs again except after a load. Easier than having to obsolete as they become available. I sometimes run into old designs popping up that I'd forgotten. At times there better then my current ones, so I just start producing them.
