Internet Play ability most definately. Each player customizes their own race. Imagine a game with 60 races going at it, striking deals, creating Joint Space Fleets, being the Pirates... ( I like that Idea best.) Why research anything when you can just hijack a ship and steal it. What would be even cooler is as you meet a new player race You have to research translation for that race. Once you both have this ability you can then form an alliance. This adds discovering new races interesting. Bu

Carriers would be cool The modules for them would also be interesting consider the fighter bays as a new tech level. Different levels have different defense/Attack abilities. But I would really love to see is a ship that could create a space minefield or some sort of robotic ship that when an enemy comes within range it zips off to engage the enemy and once they are within range they detonate again this would be tech level based damage. You wouldn't need to put shield on
Well I figured cloaking would be cool to have. Yea I know cloaking a planet would be too much but cloaking a ship should be fine. I would limit it to only 1 or 2 ship sizes due to power involved. either a medium ship or a large ship but not for a huge ship. At least something along those lines. Better still would be a cloaking ship that has only 1 job to cloak another ship. The cloak is only effective for x amount of space tiles no more than 2 closer than that and scanner tech would catch the sh
hmm so Ctrl+N is a form of a cheat. Not as good mind you as Alt+F4 when it comes to regenerating a map. Heh yep I'm an Evil Player especially with the Shredder Tech..
I would love for an option of Unknown Research or Random Research. This way you would have to build your forces and Society based upon what you've just discovered instead of tossing all your money into everything Defensive or Govt. Etc. and simply going all the way down a tech string. I can picture a screen that pops up saying " Due to a bizarre Poppy Epidemic on Planet Erotica 3 Defensive Shields has been Discovered" This would make for a really cool gameplay since the same is going on for
it would be really interesting if the Government itself choose the tech to research all you can do is throw money into it but your civs finally have a real voice. They dictate what they want and when. Some techs you will naturally want but what if your civs don't want it. It could cost you your popularity. I can see the vote screen come up or something to that effect. Sorta like with the Stem Cell issues in our own society Alot of folks are for it and vote one way while others don't want it and
it's really quite funny to build up a starbase in soon to be Enemy Territory only partially and put like 2 Large or Huge ships in it with Shredder Tech and watch the AI just send fleet after fleet into it and soon they have no money left to build fleets and then you just swoop in and conquer the planet(s) Generally I Build them with maybe 6 to seven of what is it 41 available modules and I'm fine. I might build it up to a Mark II starbase at most and put in Projection every time..
What would really be interesting is that each race has it's own tech tree full of different techs that are unique to that race. Different weapon systems and damages different sizes for modules. With just the one tech tree for all the races you already know what is coming but if each race had differnet stuff and once the AI gets better at creating new ship designs then we're talking coolness... Some items that come to mind are Boarding parties to steal ships, Lasers that penatrate ar
I think that it would be cool if each new race had to be voted into the UP after the initial 2 races setup a UP this includes the minor races as well. Plus the council should be called for the ability to vote out a race. And I have seen that the Snathi have on occassion more than 1 planet so they are going out and colonizing..
Just remember everybody has a different playing style and there is no 100% correct and only way to succeed in this game. These are only tips good ones for some of the newbies but again just tips not unbreakable rules. Find your playing style, Try different parties, try different difficulties, what works at one level may not work at a different one. With the advent of 1.11 out now use that Random option all over the place. That for myself is the most enjoyable. If I know ahead of time what is c
A stable wormhole anomoly would be nice though.. as it is now I tend to put a squadron of scouts around a wormhole anomoly so no other race can get it then I make a custom survey fleet with constructors/colony ships that can then jump in and use another area..
just have the largest population generally you will win the vote everytime. Wish the trade lane option was not so early on in the game. I'm thinking of modifying that event so that it is not permanent. Same for the starbases..
Next thing you need is to make it graphic supply a ship type with modules, engines or better still some way to take custom made ships and have them go through the simulator. See the action play out.
got the pirate messages, saw 1 group of pirates appear next to my planet and they proceed to take out the defensless cargo hauler. Out comes my shredder ship and takes out the pirate fleet no big deal.. and 2nd cargo hauler made and sent to bring back the trade route.. Starlost...
One of the best things to keep the AI at bay is on any planet that you can build 3-4 food farms do it. What I generally try to do for building up a planet is the following.. 3 -4 Farms Starport 2 Factories up to 5 factories if possible 3 Research 1 - 2 trade centers 2 Happiness buildings The farms are key to getting alot of people on your planets fast don't worry about happiness much just keep your approval rating at 54 or more. once you've go
Well I'm very pleased with the 1.1 update and look forward to the upcoming ones as well. The only mod that I have installed is the Kyro Mod which is pretty cool. Though I would prefer a mod management screen similar to what is used in MorroWind. Easy, Straight Forward and Efficient. I know that GC2 still has some sort of memory issues for folks but that mainly depends on their pagefile size and xMB installed on their motherboard ( I'm just at 128MB and it does affect the speed I'm bumping it
It could also add in something more. If your flagship increases the influence in the current sector sending it to the homeworld of a race would increase your talks with them while it's there. What would be cool is some way to capture an enemy ship. Then you could go in search of Flagships and build an influencer fleet. Can you imagine 9 fully decked out flagships with influence moving from planet to planet. Every Race would be after them. Each race starts with 1 but cannot build any more. To
Something that needs to be added into 1.2 is cloaking research. The ability to cloak a ship or fleet or planet even would be totally awesome. You could sneak a horde of ships thru enemy territory. Protect your strong planets more. Perhaps have the ships have something like a 50% chance of being destroyed by raming into a cloaked planet ( would love to see that video..) survey ships would be able to detect a cloaked item and track it thru it's sensor range so you would be constantly on the lo
It would be interesting to see a spy that has stolen a civ's tech and that civilization now has to go back and re-research it. Or the ability to target tech research to slow them down a particular path.
Well as far as the good v evil goes for the tech stuff it would be cool if you could block tech from being researched. It could still be traded but only to same alignments or something. Lets face it if you build a really strong ship wouldn't you want to thwart your enemy from building a weapon that could get thru your shields, or stop their shields building route so your super weapon has no problems. C'mon you know alot of you would go for that straight off the bat. Blocking sh
I want my Terror Stars back!!!! no Really I want them back. I can build up these great starbases that have 100+ attack ability but really in the heart of your empire they are useless since the enemy never gets past the front lines. But with a slow moving Terror Star looming over the next nebula heading for your tech capitol your in for a fun time. It does wonders to force civs to Ally with you or become space dust. Starlost..
Same here LW'er for at least 8 years that I can remember. got that plugin mentioned above so making the export file should not be a problem. But what I need to learn is how do I had the hardpoints on the model so that I can fit the assorted weapons on them ( ie phasors, torps etc.. ).. Do I just put a null on the model and export it that way or is there more to do first... Been looking around for a GC2 tutorial for LW but no luck so far.. Starlost...
Hmm just thought about an interesting strategy make a couple of medium ships with nothing but defensive armor, shields and Point defenses. Then create your super fleet killer ship and use the defense ships to buy you time to take out their fleets. Then all you have to do is simply add a new defense ship relatively quickly to the fleet. Your making basically, cannon fodder ships that the AI will be wasting shots on initially. I've noticed the pattern that the smaller the ship the AI targets the
just outta curiosity has anyone bothered to try taking say a huge hulled ship and sticking nothing but the best defensive fields on it. and the best armor etc. no weapons just make a big ship that can take a pounding. and see if the AI can actually destroy it or not. That would be interesting to see. Oh well time to give this a whirl sounds like fun. Starlost...
Sounds more like he's trying to design a Death Star. Huge bulky full of weapons for close combat and one kick ass beamer to destroy a planet. Just it moves as fast as a snail. Starlost...
