It has been my experience on huge galaxies on tough with common habitable planets that the Thalan's always seem to need help. In the last 4 games they surrendered to me once, surrendered to the drengin once and I had to get over gift the korath to keep them from wiping the Thalan's out the other two times. They have never seemed to become any kind of competition
I accidentally saved over it (:( I suck
I kind of like it. It makes wars in space require that much more planning and execution - it should take more effort to jump between 'spiral arms of the galaxy'
Nothing like an enemy ship that can't defend against a weapon that does 0 damage!
I've had the spy ring event (the one where an agent appears on almost all of your planets) happen in 3/4 of my games, which seems a bit frequent. Also, in Huge maps and larger this can lead to a very very long list of spies. I have had as many as 62 spies that needed to be gotten rid of. When the maximum number of spies you can produce is 1 per turn, if you can afford that kind of cash, it takes forever to get rid of them all. Also, I noticed that some of the AIs are willing to trade aw
I have noticed the game gets unresponsive for me after using the doom rays and disruptors as well. The turn button will disappear. However, if I leave the game for 3 min or so it will then continue as normal. Also, quicksaving and then loading seems to solve the issue as well. A work around that I have noticed is that if you go into the fleet battle screen this unresponsiveness stopped happening (for me at least). So I set the options to show EVERY battle with my ships involved and this has ende
Note to self, never mention any expansion pack details until we're ready to release the whole announcement since people will read in all kinds of things. Alot of us are just greatfull that you announced even slim details about future plans. Granted now I have to wait many months in anticipation - but oh well. Besides, surely by now you are used
Love the work
I recently upgraded my hard drive and I want to copy the ships that I made over to my fresh GalCiv installation. Where are those ships located in the directory?
When you start welding a large wing to the side of your car - then complain that design doesn't affect performance when your car tips over. You constantly hit crtl+n trying to get a new house closer to work When people talk of colonizing Mars, you think "Why bother, its only 4 squares?" You build a new Gazebo/grill/hot-tub in your neighbor's yard in hopes that he will be influenced into letting you have his house You spend 15min at work trying to come
I usually play on whatever is the first difficulty the AI starts getting benifits (The one above intelligent). I typically have speed 7 ships (2 or 3 engines) until I research hyperwarp, then go to 13. I generally do put defense on ships for the simple reason that if you build a massive dreadnaught with 200 attack and fight ships with no defense and 20 HP that means that ~180 of your attack is wasted (This reflects my play style. I don't like to manage large numbers of smaller craft so my battle
And events. Ethical choices can give huge benifits to ships constructed on a given planet. I have seen up to a 51% bonus to ships from these events
Hmmm, I just looked at their web page and didn't see GalCiv2 mentioned. Did I miss something? Thanx for the info Frogboy
Dang it. I always miss it when they review the games I want to see them review
I have seen the Torians do it on 4 of the 8 plants I have captured from them
Torians first. I always seem to be leading a coalition against them because their influence keeps getting to strong. I did learn never to let them build any of the influence wonders Acreans next - I always seem to start next to them I always seem to war with these two and never really have good relations with them - ever
I second that beta bug. I've currently conqured about 6 Torian planets and have found 2 starports of 3 of them
Well, if it was just a 'war started with someone' then you could just go and look at the treaties in the diplomatic screen to find out who
About activation that confused people the 'O' and the '0' look the same I would think copying and pasting from the registry would take care of that problem.
I as well am having problems. I copied the serial # right out of the registry, then tried copying off the back of the cd case about 12 times - I keep getting "Invalid Activation"
Stardock develops and pubilshes Galactic Civilizations II. But it does not distribute it to retail in North America. That's done by Take 2. The article is in error for the same reason a lot of places get it in error - many people don't realize that Take 2 is actually one of the larger distributors in the world ala In
Go here: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp choose "graphics driver" and go from there
Heh, Newsweek reported that almost 90% of software in China was pirated, 72% in India, and somewhere around 70% for Thailand
As someone who does PC repair work for Circuit City I will tell you that some laptops are easy to upgrade, about as hard as changing your laptop ram (assuming the ram is not located under the keyboard and a piece of metal thats soddered to the motherboard) but others will have the graphics card soddered and basically cannot be upgraded without risking damage to the mobo. There really isn't anyother way to find out but to remove the keyboard and/or case
