On a huge map with DA v. 1.60 (1.59x or whatever). Compared to DL I can hardly see the stars and planets on the mini-map. They are so dim compared to DL on the same sized map.

I am running a huge sized game. I just started playing DA after long playing DL. The stars and planets in my mini-map are hardly visible in DA compared to the same sized map in DL. I have a feeling that something in the options might fix it but I don't know what. I have tried several things in the video option but so far nothing works. The rest of the main screen is fine. I am playing 1024x72x on a 17 inch monitor. I know that with a huge map it is hard to see things o

We aren't talking about the same planet list. I am talking about the list you get from hitting the planet button at the lower left on the main screen. I realize there is a second planet-colony list buried under one of the other buttons. I don't use it as much. I use the planet list (from the planet button) when I am deciding where to send my colony ship. If the ship is selected and you punch on the planet, the screen goes there and you can right-click to get the colo

My planet list is usually set to class (number of usable squares)-- high to low. All of a sudden it was low at the top to high at the bottom. Now I know a lot of lists in programs can be reversed but I didn't see a button to do that. It would be really annoying for the list to go from low to high (particularly for colonizable planets). I reloaded and things were ok. I wondering if I did something to make this happen. This is in DL.

I always lose money at first. Because I always start with at least 3 factories per planet during the colony rush. After I colonize a few planets, I build sensors and start looking for anomalies to tide me over. I build the first few econ techs. Build impulse drive and then go back to economic developments--pushing toward banks and stock exchanges. Then in DL I get the 3 extra squares from neutral. I am doing the colony rush all along (I am on crippling). Then advance to republic and democ

Do the DL and DA mods go in the same directory? For example, if I change the planetimprovements.xml file.

I am still playing DL. I half like DA (whatever). I have played a lot of games (with victory coming only from war). I have never used espionage. Is it worth it? I have a little trading but not much. I am not sure it is worth trading with future enemies. Perhaps with the neutral single planet parties would be ok. Is it worth it to generate significant revenue?

I usually build 3 factories first. On the first planet I quick-build a factory. Then a starport at the beginning. Starports I build later after a while. Then usually a morale building. Then market centers. Factories eat up money. I have to look for anomalies with money to keep me going. Work my way up to stock exchanges. The higher govt. gives you more money. Ultimately, if you are playing a military game, it is higher production that is the most important. Early in

I want a mouse with extra buttons (so I can program one to double click). I bought a "refurbished" MS Intellimouse 3. I could program the extra buttons great but the scroller didn't work. Trying to get a replacement.

When you start out, look at the mini-map and see whether you have a good position. If not, you can hit Ctrl-N and get a new map. If you start boxed in, you will be in bad shape. If you want to cheat a bit, keep hitting Ctrl-N until you get another star with one or two decent inhabitable planets. This may take a while to get such a combination.

I can't for the life of me see why Atari is so hard nosed about the MOM franchise. They may be just as stinky about MOO though I suspect MOO3 was a financial bust. I would love Stardock to do either and call it what you want.

Ever tried F2? Press the F2 key while on the galaxy map, and a little tool should pop-up that lists all the planets. It's got: Mine, Foriegn, Unowned and All as categories. Yes, that just brings up the planet/colony list which was what I was talking about. The planet list does not show what type of planet it is (automatically inhabitable, aquatic, radioactive, etc.). This is particularly unhelpful for the unowned planet list. You have to cl

Under DL, obviously all the unowned planets that usable squares could be inhabited. Normally I would have them sorted based on the number of squares available. Under DA, when you do this listing, it lists all of the unowned planets but obviously you can't inhabit most of them unless you have the techs. Some don't need techs. The only way to find out from this list is to click on them and then you find out whether they need aquatic, radioactive, etc. tech.

I already mentioned that I am not in love with the new planet types. Shouldn't the "unowned" planet list show what type of planet it is? Is there a way to do it? I know there are a number of sort options. As far as I know, when you look at the unowned planet list, you have to click on it to see what type it is.

Yes, that helps some. I still would like to build planet improvements without double clicking (or clicking on the improvement and then build). Build should be the default. I am also looking for a mouse that can double click with one click. Surely, someone has come up with that one. Some old three button mouses (before the scroll wheel) had that option for the middle button. How about clicking the scroll wheel?

I am developing rsi in both wrists as a result of these two games: DL and DA. I would like to double click less. Are there mice that have a single button that double clicks. I know there are mice with multiple buttons. I saw a Japanese Buffalo mouse that has a special red button next to the scroll wheel that causes a double click. I don't think it is sold in the US. Can any of the extra button mice be programmed to do double clicks? I think there would also be a n

Alpha Centauri and its expansion were great games (but just one planet). Some people thought that it was a little too green oriented and the techs were not transparent. But it a 4x Civ in space. I wish Sid would get his rear in gear and do a follow-up instead of Railroad XXXX. BTW his next game is Sid Meier's Sid Meier. Then his next is...

Playing my first DA game on a huge galaxy. Maybe I am wrong but it seems like even with techs set initially at their fastest, it takes longer to get good techs. Harder to get money--particularly since the anomalies tend to give less money. I haven't seen a 2500bc anomaly yet but a bunch of 100 bc ones. Also I was surprised when I researched my first non-regular planets--aquatic, I still only had part of the pie. I had half researched it and it would take a lon

I am just playing DA for the first time and I chose neutral. I was unhappy that I didn't automatically get my 3 extra squares. What special techs do you need to terraform them to usable tiles?
