New computer. Disks gone. Installed through Impulse, Game Stop, and now bought it from Steam. GALCIV II Complete. Only one game works, TA, DA does not work. It crashes after you've picked your players, Galciv2 also does not work for the same reason. Does Stardock ever respond. Tried to buy Start 8, No email for that either.

No, I am referring to Twilight (not the movie!). How does strategy change? How do you stay above water money wise?
I'm afraid I always played DA by grabbing more planets. To do that I needed money. I would send out 8 surveyors looking for money. Otherwise I would get into the hole too fast. So what is the best way to get money in TA. Or, is that a bad strategy?
I have them turned on. Do they only show up when the ship is selected?
I got a new computer with 6 gig memory. Running Win 7. I thought this problem would go away. It didn't. Still late in the game, ship icons (for newly built ships). Can find them manually but it is a pain. I know it won't get fixed. They have to try to fix Elemental first (damn it is boring).
I think maybe they charged too little! And probably got too few buyers. Instead of charging $5 for a classic, I would have been willing to $7-8. And that is a 60% increase in income. I always thought their games, despite being old, were a steal. Odd to feel that way as a buyer.
I notice the Elven Legacy is on sale at Impulse. I am tempted to buy the game. I have read some reviews of the first version. Apparently it is a lot like HOMM. But one complaint of the reviewers is that if you don't finish the map in very quick order (so undue wandering around), you fail and must start again. It becomes like an untimed puzzle. So is this a legit complaint about the game and its sequels? I am tempted to buy the game but I don't lik
I am hardly a big demander of graphics. I don't mind the maps, but the units are awful and difficult to identify. I wonder whether someone could just update the units. I don't know whether the unit graphics are separate files or hardwired into the game. I have tried some suggestions on the gog forum. Maybe my monitor is too big at 24".
I think it is going for $35.00 now. Would like it more at $30. Would like it more at...
This is an Empire Deluxe type game. I play Empire, EDIE, and EDEE and loved them. Empires of Steel is apparently in the same genre. Anybody tried it? It is at www.battlefront.com . You can download a demo. For some reason, I couldn't do it on the site but found it elsewhere.
I generally don't like RTS games. Their website tends to downplay the RTS side of the game (pausable, etc.). What's the take on the RTS side of the game?
Two small things take up a lot of my time on DA: 1. The lack of the ability to reject or at least not use a captured tech--like a costly upgrade in manufacturing which can wreck my economy unless I go through planet by planet and delete the upgrades. I think this was mentioned earlier by someone else. 2. On the planet screen started by the leftmost button, show the type of planet (high gravity, toxic, etc) with an icon. This would help particularly with
I see one problem with using a wormhole with colonizers or constructors early in the game. If the ships are beyond "the range," all that you are allowed to do is go directly towards your territory.
I am not a newbie but I have never figured out a couple of things: 1. Wormholes? Can only survey ships go through wormholes? If so, seems stupid. I suppose you could fit colony or fighting ships with a survey module. 2. Resource Points: A research point increases research but of what? Your entire research? Or only the planets in a certain area? Economic: How specifically do they affect the econo
I just got slimed last night. I had my economy in order using manufacturing centers. Then I take over another planet and I get a tech I did not want ramping up the manufacturing and also greatly adding to my expenses unless I went through and deleted them in the queue of EACH bloody planet.
Devil- How do you burn planets in DL? I thought all you could do is invade them. As for the first point, in DA and TA you have planets of different types that cannot be colonized without the proper techs. As to which techs I research first, I end up counting the number in each type and research the tech that will get me the most planets right away. I find there is some difference from game to game as to which type predominates with good planets. I usu
and less of a hassle: I don't whether the devs will ever work on GCII again, but here are two things I would like 1. When you punch the colony button, bottom left, it should show what type of planet it is: normal, toxic, high grav, etc. This would be particularly helpful for the unowned list when you want to colonize. 2. When you capture a planet and get tech, you should be able to refuse it or have it not automatically go into effect for all of
I have checked "save ships to hard drive." Doesn't work.
I didn't have this problem with DL. I will design a ship, save it, checkmark the item to keep it my user created ships. It will stay there for that game, but not for future games. How can I design a ship and keep it for future use?
Yes, I have both. While I love DA, TA has "features" that take fun out of the game. Too little money, research takes forever, etc. What's your take?
Although beta testers are welcome and I have seen a few posts, I would like to hear from the developers whether Win7 will cause problems for DL, DA, or TA.
Zipped and sent this afternoon. It happened twice in the same game. The second time after I reloaded an earlier file from the game and played for 3 hours, saving continuously. After 2 1/2 hours, I got another corrupt save file that could not be reloaded. Same debug.err message. I may reload DA. I am worried this may repeat itself though I have been playing DA for a year on the same computer without this problem. Of course the versions of DA have chang
English. I am in US. Do you want me to send in saved game debug.err?
Deep in DA game in huge galaxy with 2 AI. The last two days I have been having trouble loading saved games. I can get going if I go back far enough but it is getting annoying. The debug.err always says the following about the Altarians (one of the AIs) right at the end of file: Debug Message: Can't find ship type è'¼p€ÔDXT5 in definitions Debug Message: Ship Altarian Frigate M4 v9 8254 does not have a v
As I have reported earlier, when I play in a gigantic universe with just AI opponents, later in the game when there are many, many ships, I lose my blue icons for new ships at the beginning of the turn. I can't launch new ships unless I go from planet to planet and launch them one by one. If I save, quit, and reload, I usually will be ok for several turns before the same thing happens. I assume this is memory related. BTW I am running 3gb on Vista. Se
