I suspect HP may use a proprietary power supply. Don't know. How can I found out?

I have a HP 3.2 gig computer with 1 gig memory. But the video card the ATI X300 is rather slow. Most of the mid-range video cards (if they say) require 350 watts on up. Any suggestions? I can replace video cards but I don't have the expertise to replace the power supply and computer stores don't much exist around here. If I can, I'd like to keep 300 watter if I can. I don't play intense video games on the machine. But I notice on Galciv2 my ships start stuttering i
The best way is to play on easy mode. When the game is set up, you probably don't want your computer competitors blocking you from the rest of the universe. Look at the mini map with the first icon in second row on. It will show where people are. If you don't have enough breathing space, hit Control-N and the computer will generate another universe and change the starting point. If you don't want to ally and want a military victory, don't exchange techs. Look for anomalies with money. You
If your ship survives a fight but is damaged, the ship icons glows (burns). Can you tell how damaged the ship is (like what percent?)
The lowest resolution I have used is 1024 x 768.
What we really need is to be able to save queues on planet improvements. And then be able to reuse them. I generally start off with 3 factories, then, etc. The computer would need to be smart enough where to place the factories--on the bonus mfr tiles first and other other bonus tiles last. If we could do in Stars! at a little over 1 meg for the whole game, we should be able to it here.
I play military. Near the end of the game, all AI's are gone and I have to keep hitting the space bar to let my ships move. Eventually hit the turn button, do more hitting the space bar. Takes about 5 min and then the victory screen comes up. Is the extra time to help run your score up or what? Why not give the victory screen when the last AI is gone?
don't know if this feature was announced, but I sure was surprised when I noticed "Newest" "Old" and "All" tabs on my planetary improvement list. Is this in the current non-beta version or in a beta version?
You also need to have enough miniaturization for them to show up, not just the techs for the components themselves. I have the techs and I have the space. When I go to look for a certain type of ship and it is not there, I rebuild it imediately. Meaning it should show up. Some of my old models do show up on time.
I'm only concerned with the gold v 1.0 version.
Some ship types do show up and some do not in later games. And when they do not,I do have the techs to create them. I have to do them all over again.
I have a dial-up hookup at home. Slow. Eventually I will upgrade. Right now at work, I download the big stuff but I don't play the game there. Will I be able to download the big file and then move and install it on my home computer?
Finding anomalies with survey ships--build them yourself for more range. I would get about 10% of anomalies give you money. 500, 750, 1000, and the occasional 2500. On large, I usually build 3 or so extra ships besides the flagship which has survey capability.
Every now and then there is a party vote as to which party stays in power. I guess that I am the federalists. I have never lost a vote. I've noticed that sometimes there are a 100 votes, sometimes less. Anybody know what happens if you lose the vote, do you contine but with the characteristics of the new party? Or do you lose the game? Is the vote based solely on morale or other factors?
I had this problem after doing a Ctl-N and so I am suspicious that occasionally for some reason the intelligence rating somehow gets screwed up. I guess if you do Ctl-N you might want to check the bottom of the debug.err log to see if the numbers for intelligence (however they spell it) are right.
It is somewhat ironic to misspell that word and I am a teacher (who sometimes doesn't proof-read--contrary to my instructions to my students). Most of the time it is because I am trying to go too fast. Since I teach law, my most hated misspelling is "So and so looses the case." My favorite misspelling: this practice is illeagle .
This intelligence message is only generated when the game is first created. It is not later generated again for saved files. If you switch games or move a game to a different computer or delete the debug.err file, you won't see the information on "intellence". Why do they mispell it?
Yes, it is under "stats" "Misc", and I while I thought that level was set for tough, intelligent, instead it said "fool" for the AI. Which meant that I must have been a fool for setting up the game this way. Normally the settings remain the same for a new game set up and I don't use randomize. I am using a slight mod of planetimprovements.xml file but I don't think that caused it to go to fool. Just started another game under tough and intelligent with my mod a
Where do you look in the debug.err file? It is rather large. Is the number associated with the words above or something else?
I am playing on tough (which I admit is not very). Usually at this stage of the game, I and the AIs have about the same number of planets though usually mine are better. I meet the first AI and he only has 2 planets and I have 10. And I am wondering if the difficulty level was set right. Any way to tell in game what the difficulty level is in the middle of the game?
One of the more typical GNI announcement is that a planet improvement has been completed. If nothing is in the queue, you have to select the GNI announcement for that planet, then move your mouse to "Go To" and punch again. I am suggesting deleting have to punch the "Go To" button (it can still be there). In other words, just click on the GNI announcement that you need to build something new and you automatically go to the planet.
I am always looking for ways to save mouse clicking. I have one suggestion. Maybe you have more. When the GNI comes up, typically there are multiple items. Right now, you have to click the item, then click "Go to." If you are not interested in the item, you leave it alone. Why not just have one click on the GNI item and you go to it? Double clicking on the GNI item would not save clicks, but would save moving the mouse to the "Go To." <b
The devs tells us a lot. One of the things they don't often tell is the compatibility of an earlier version saved game with a later version of the program. For some games that go long, that is an automatic. Most of my games on a large map go 3 days and I suppose you can wait to upgrade.
I have a 1.31 mod game saved. The only mods are some changes to planetimprovements.xml. Does the saved game store all of the initial values from the modded planetimprovements.xml? Or will I have to have the modded planetimprovements.xml file in place and have the mod game checked in the option screen in 1.4? What I am basically asking is how much is included in the saved file? Does it include the tech and planet improvement numbers?
In regard to morale buildings, it looks to me like the 3 lower buildings provide the same low morale boost as before: Entertainment Network, 5% Multimedia Center, 10% Extreme Stadium, 15% The next two provide a bigger morale boost and are more expensive: Zero G, went from 20% to 30% Virtual Reality from 25% to 40% I don't see any differnce in cost but the tech costs may be higher.
