Blah, I can't read. Sorry

Hmmm, this is a bug that seems to happen when you upgrade your old ships with new weapons and what not but keep the same name. As long as you don't save/load the game you'll be fine, but when you do all the ships appear. I think it was fixed in the latest patch - did you get it? If not, the easiest fix is 2-fold 1- Rename your ships with a "Mk2" or something at the end of the name when you upgrade them 2- go to your my documters/my games/galciv2/ships folder and f
HeavenBlade: What resolution are you running the game at? I've found out that a lower (read: 1024 x 768) resolutions, the ships don't look nearly as good as some of those screenshots. More blocky, less lighting. However, ramp up the res and it's almost magical
Not that they're too powerful but rather that the computer doesn't use them enough to give them the same kind of advantage that the player has. Basicaly, you can give your planets a 300%++ production bonus on top of everything else, by using starbases, If you apply this to your manufacturing capital which has 700% production bonus tiles, you're going to be able to crank out thousands (you read right, thousands) of production points per turn.
ATI radeon 9X00 Geforce 6xxx You can usually get them for lower prices and they're still plenty good. Depends on the brand you purchase too, and where. Small computer shops usually have much much better prices on individual pieces than the big stores, who generally have better prices on complete computer systems. I'd say you could look for a 80-100$ card and you'll be golden. Just make sure that it says
Well, you could theorize that the xeno ethics "Good" alignement gives you better bonuses than the "Evil" side. Which isn't totally true... On the other hand, I've seemed to notice that when you select "evil" choices, your approval gets a hit. Maybe it's just me -I need to check this out more.
Actually, there's an option in the game's option menu about auto-pilot left-over moves. Go check it out, it's basicaly an option that says "Skip moves left from auto-pilot" Maybe that's what you're looking for?
Citizen Dansk Kidanski , Stardock's copy-protection is the most unintrusive copy protection ever Think about it. It doesn't install anything. It doesn't require you to put a CD in the drive, it doesn't even ask you for a cd-key to INSTALL or PLAY the game. What it asks you for, is a CD-key to access update and extra content. A proof
they looks to fire faster because they get to the ennemy faster - just know that it isn't the case. In fact, when viewing fleet battles, you can very well set the on-screen action apart from the action report at the bottom of the screen - They might seem to match but because of the different weapon speed, they usually don't. Basicaly the weapon's effect on the target is registered when the weapon is -fired-, not when it hits. hope
go to www.nvidia.com and look for the Geforce and TnT drivers - it's a catch-all pack that upgrades every card execpt the 7800 Gtx GO.
Have you updated your video car drivers?
Maybe you could try and contact Stardock's sale dep. Have you tried installing the game anyway? The name might just be an error. Last alternative, and if your connection permit (hope you're not on dial-up) you can go with Darth Kryo's suggestion.
Geez, have you read my post? I explained exactly how the game works... Bonuses can be applied to 3 levels: Race-wide, Planet-wide or tile-based. If that 15% bonus you talk about comes from a building you build on a planet, then, logicaly, wouldn't you say it affects the planet it's built on? Yes, you would and yes, it does. If you talk about a 15% that comes from a mining starbase, then you're talking race-wide bonuses - it applies
I'll let #1 alone For #2, it's pretty much random, which spices up things. If you end up without too many planet it forces you to use a wholy different strategy than if you have a bunch of good planets around IF you don't like your startig position, hit Control + N to recreate a new map without having to go back to themain menu! <img src="
Yes, population gets capped by the planet quality- it's especially visible with planets quality under 7 (a 4-5 has a pop cap of 1.5-2 billion people) On the other hand, really high-quality planets (18+) get a very -big- population cap. More than you can get while still keeping them happy
To get the "good" ships it's easy - research the hull size line of tech (Pink technologies) If you want to add "good" weapons to it, research the Red line of technology If you want to add "good" engine, research the light blue. If you want to add "Good" deffense, research the purple. Easy
Easy, specialize your planets. Have ship producing planets and money producing planets. Second thing, to get your tax up and maintain them, you need to keep your approval up, this means build less farms and more happy buildings (entertainment centers) In fact, don't bother getting your population much higher then 5 or 10 billion - you don't need much more on your production planets. On your money planet (which should be high-quali
but it's a "minor" post on slashdot !_!
Also, make use of the way point system - Really useful to set up "Staging" areas. I call mine depending on which border they are, such as "Altarian front" or "Drengin front" Really, really useful =D
this thread is a novel in the making, word count into the thousands!
OH boy... allying with a minor race... if you hold up your end of the bargain you're going to end up fighting with everyone in the galaxy. Try this for kickers: Once, I allied with the altarian and also the Torians. Altarians declare war on the Torian. The torians are stronger than me and my friends, so I refuse to help. Torians declare war on Altarians, so I agree to help them. Altarian's friends, the Arceans and Thalans, declare war o
your net income is all 3(or 4) income sources: Taxes, tourism, Trade and sometimes, Tribute. Taxes comes from all your planet's taxes. Each planet's taxes are modified by the economic buildings on it. Each planet's tax is also influenced by any economics bonus your race or your starbase gets you. Tourism is based on your influence - it's usually a negligible income but it still helps. Trade comes frmo freighter - both the ones you s
yeah, saw it happen... drengins got the whole map for one turn then it went back to normal.
Oh, why did you quote the part where I ranted about the people I work with I think I said it before. Maybe it's not the kind of game for you. 4X games usually have higher time requirements than FPSes or the like. RTS fall in-between.
So what's the question? Looks more like a statement But yes, factory production is limited to the planet their are built on. Remember though, factory produces a set number of points that are spread between your civic and military production, so if you want to build planetary improvements, it's useful to have a couple factories around. The o
