I'm giving this a go. Looks good so far (where "so far" is early game on an immense map) with the non-expanding minors. Anything that will get some of the races to expand more efficiently and be more of a challenge.

Belatedly, you make it Frogboy, and I will buy it.
As a workaround, try going to the following registry path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2UL Create a new String Key called "Serial No", and set the value data to your game serial number and see if that helps.
I tried to do this, but I wasn't given the option to name it, and I just had a GalCiv2 path, not GalCiv2UL I do have the same problem - I can't log into the Metavers
I look forward to seeing GalCiv III and the possible conclusions to your story, Brad.
More of the story is up to Brad. We'll probably see more once GalCiv 3 is in development, I suspect.
I probably should have followed my own instincts and not bothered to return to this thread. Why was it necessary for multiple men to jump in and derail this thread, throw in irrelevant jokes about how there are no women on the internet (and everyone who says she's a woman is either ugly or really a man, or perhaps both)? Why was it necessary for some men to invoke a stereotype of a woman trying to use her gender to get male attention - and most of all, why was this done in such a way
Well, one of the best ways to counteract sexism (or any -ism, for that matter) is to stop making a big deal out of whatever trait you are atttempting to equalize. You want to make gaming an equal-opportunity passtime? Then stop treating female gamers like some sort of anomaly.
Actually, from a lifetime of experience, women are not at fault for bringing sexism down upon ourselves. Men make more of a big deal about gender than women,
I was using Firefox 3.0, but they weren't working at the time. It may be that someone noticed that older links were broken and fixed the problem, which is yay, because digging around in older posts is a bit rough when all the links go nowhere. Thank you for organizing these links in the first place - it was handy to find all the backstory compiled in one spot back around, oh, when this thread was newer. :)
jprcompain, It's not what the devs did, it's what they didn't do. When they wrote the first campaign, there were 10 races + Dread Lords, for 11 slots. With Dark Avatar, there were two new races (Korath, Krynn). Moving the maps and scenarios to DA or TA shifts the race slot for Dread Lords up two slots, which defaults the original race slot to Krynn. They didn't bother to change most of the maps, but the game adapts to that fine. This is the only scenario that references
Leauki, I have never seen gods who throw lightning and mate with humans. That's what makes it nonsense. Huh. That's odd, I'm pretty sure there's storm gods all over the world, in multiple religions . And I'm also pretty sure there's gods in multiple religions who have mated with humans. So, these stories of gods affecting the natural world aren't exactly unique to Greek r
What makes Hellenic religion nonsense? Or at least nonsense in a way that living religions are not?
I didn't say you were telling me to shut up, but that was the vibe I got from Zyxspilon's response, and what I was talking about.
... The tone of my response is fine. The words I used are fine. When someone says something as mind-boggling as Zyx did in response to my comment, I think "what the fuck are you talking about?" is a reasonable response. It's not a matter of maturity. Removing those words won't change the content of my response, and I don't think I should be required to respond with a level tone when I'm told I'm talking about something wrong - or more specifically, told to shut up. Also, look
Phaedyme = her I'm not fighting, I'm confused about Zyx's response. I'm also not going to hold back my frustration when someone says something frustratingly obtuse. I don't think the tone of my response has any bearing on the message , which is that Zyx totally missed the point of what I said, got defensive as if I were attacking him , and told me to stop talking that way about my reaction to the film.
Yay for more backstory in the book - and the contradiction with the comics doesn't really matter because it sounds like the book hangs together a bit better.
Zyx, wtf? Could you please be clear as to what you think I'm saying? Because you're coming across as extremely defensive and reacting as if I'm attacking the movie for saying that Kirk's line highlights the way the reboot was handled. It's not a nitpick, and if you think I'm reaching to call it a lampshade hanging, I suggest you don't know wtf I'm talking about. That and you're coming across as pissed off because I'm taking a step beyond saying "I liked the f
1. Those really aren't replicators as of TNG canon. 3. Totally agreed - like I said, i think they played that for laughs. My comment about swelling probably being itchy was just minor detail. 10. Did you follow the link I gave you? Kirk improvized a gorram mortar while fighting the Gorn captain. :) What I mean is, Trek characters are more like pulp characters and pull off implausible MacGyver stuff all the time. 18. Red matter's darned weird, really. I wouldn't be surp
Mascrinthus, can you update the links in the OP? A forum update broke them. Here's some working links: The Reluctant, Chapters 1-6 (and 7 and 8) The Galactic Civilizations Universe - The journey from then to now <a href="http://draginol.impulsedriven.net/article/124732/The_Dread_Lords_the_Arnor_the_humans_and_the_Altar
I said this before, I know I did, but I really liked how Kirk hung a lampshade on the whole time travel thing before beaming back onto the Enterprise. I hope that the next film does not rely on time travel as a storytelling device, though. For the most part, I am done with Trek time travel stories, and have been since Generations. Except for "More Troubles, More Tribbles." That was fun.
You have to make separate scenarios for each race - and because you start with Xeno Ethics, I don't think you can actually choose a morality - I seem to recall not being able to build any morality-specific buildings despite having all morality-based techs.
Yeah, Creative Good +25 creativity. I think there might be another +creativity tech, but I'll be damned if I can remember it right now. It might be in the Thalan tech tree if it exists at all.
I can still connect. If that helps any. :)
We'd all be happier if you hadn't suggested that. Point. NM, Mumble. STAY AWAY.
Ah, Mumble, you should give Impulse a shot (unless your machine won't run it). Of course, if you only play DL, it probably doesn't matter much.
I refer back to the Onion story I linked a couple pages ago.
