To be honest by what you're describing it sounds more like a dodgy hard disk than dodgy software. What does defrag do? Completely fail to start or hang immediately? Try doing chkdsk c: /f from a command prompt. This should schedule a disk check for the next reboot. Also when you say it fails on bootup does it give an error message? Does it just hang? What stage does it get to before failing? Have you tried any other accounts? My old hard disk had a point when it would start to c

Koasati: I have heard that those images have to be 16bit BMP's or they won't show. Personally I haven't got them to show no matter what I do. Pixtudio has though so you could try editing one of theirs and swapping the image. Then just hitting save. Hopefully it will keep the same format.

WMI->DesktopX Scripting Tutorial Started in WinCustomize News WinCustomize Forums

A WMI->DesktopX scripting tutorial has been started. WMI stands for Windows Management Interface and provides a mechanism of getting at lots of information (disk space used/free on any drive, processor usage overall, by process etc. I would appreciate any feedback on whether I have missed bits out, need to go into more detail/less detail on part of it or anything else I may not have mentioned. One thing that may slow things down is an overzealous virus checker. Might need to tell it to ignore any file types specific to WB that can't contain viruses. ie .WB4, .uis, .sss, .xps, .xp, .ssd and maybe even .bmp, .tga depending on how aggressive your virus checker is.

DesktopX can already do a heck of a lot more than people give it credit for. It can do most if not all that dxtoys can/could do and more through the power of DXscript. I am still waiting for someone who can create a plugin that could pull in data fed to it from a script command and draw a graph or something. Currently scripting is a bit problematic but I know that Stardock are looking into improving both it and DesktopX generally. The future is exciting. Already there are some cool scripts

DarkMist: I'm not saying no walls. I'm saying that they should be designed to complement a particular skin and it should be stated what skin it goes with. Of course that is just my opinion and I'm not expecting anyone else to agree with it.

Personally I would scrap the whole wallpaper section in a second. It just causes too many fallings out. I fully expect the wallpaper artists to jump down my throat but I am past caring. I suspect it won't make any difference saying this and I may alienate some people but I know that I have to say this.
