winamp evolver, admins please...

Ok, first of all, I am not sure.

I was trying to help someone building a skin, and he didn't had the defauld skin. I went down to the winamp site, and let him download evolver,

the site said Skin By: lawrence villanueva
On wc there is the same skin, with the same name, only skinned by a difrend person...

This is something out of the skin.xml file.
the same data as on the winamp site, so I fear that the one on wc is a..... RIP

This is an interesting one...but note the upload date on Devart is before the Winamp.com one...so who is the original?
It'll take time to sort...and it's late in Oz, so tomorrow I'll look...

Jafo, the the author on winamp.com is using giving a link to his devian page.... think he is the origninal, as the same nick is used in the .xml code.

Devart and WC is the same person...and the Devart one was uploaded before the Winamp one...so going by that alone the Winamp one is the 'copy'...

Ok, now I lose the track, devart and wc?? I thought you ment Devian art. The guy on the winamp site links to his DeviantArt site. the site has the same nick as in the .xml (boostr29)
now, in the .xml is the same name as on the winamp site, and the xml is the same. so... I think the one here is a rip.

That's what I mean. Would he be so ignorant as to even copy exactly the verbage in the description? I guess it could be ripped but he would have to be awful dumb if that was the case.

Just click and view his other skins here. They are all similar in style and very nice. Also do a search on google for eric menk and skins. Either he is a major ripper or he is legit and an excellent artist.

The authors homepage link from winamp is the link to ~boostr29 on deviantart which is eric menk.

Either it's the same person or Lawrence Villanueva has found it and uploaded it with a link back to the original artist.

Guys...that's what I was starting to say....If the Devart [Deviantart.com] and WC [Wincustomize.com] works are by the same person then the odd one out was the WA [Winamp.com] one...but then, when checking not just dates but Authors' names you find they are the same person under different 'Nicks'....

Often it can be difficult to determine who is 'ripping' what....particularly when some people like to use different nicks on different sites.
Naturally it'd be nice if everyone kept the same name everywhere...but often that cannot happen, due to it being taken by another...eg, there is a 'Jafo' on Devart...the same one on themeXP [I think]...and it ain't me, but if you read his posts you'd know that in a flash...
