I am Australian. We only do what the Americans tell us to do, so we do not have to think about anything.
I think you'll find we are actually considered an American state now, regardless of the clumsy installment of Chairman Rudd and his linguistic virtues. Still, the US is willing to pimp us around occasionally... did you know we sell gas to China for 2 cents a litre? Sure beats the buck fifty I pay. (If I type lol now is it comedy?)
Perfect, thx Zy
Ah nice one...i'll try that cheers mate *edit... after further thought, I just remembered I was getting slayed in the espionage department, I think there was something like ten spies on my planets and each new one of mine is costing about eighty-five bazillion-gillion bucks. Simply stated... not possible with the saves I have... is there any other way you can think of that I can check?
I was playing on tough, I don't like playing with a handicap. Thanks for answering anyway, it seems like you think something was rigged which was what I thought. Maybe the pop-up bugged out or something.
Hi, I'm after some expert help here if possible. Got flogged by the Arceans last night but I'm not sure if all things were fair and square... What I need is confirmation on the feasibility of these numbers... I had around 40 planets early and around 80 when finally beaten. They had 12 for early game... 25 for mid... and about 5 when they finally made a tech victory (I had cultural victory switched off) But the thing is... Although I was going for the military victory
Rhelamos... your talents are wasted here, you really should write a book.
Gameplay should and should always remain more important then graphics
Spot on. Boring dressed up in sparkles and rainbows is still boring. Unfortunately I think the majority of gatekeepers who dole out the industry cash, have attention spans more in line with sparkles and rainbows. Graphics be damned, providing a game has the necessary symbols, my imagination can do the rest. It only took me five weeks of HOMM5 b4 I was back playing HOMM3 again, damn that game wi
I can tell you one thing... The Krynn are the first to go from now on. Always. Count on it.
Lol... for me it's always the Thalans. I had a similar experience last game, the korath turned into rome and no-one wanted a bar of it. Fortunately I had enough resources to muster an few anti-korath fleets and got stuck into them... I had to laugh though when all the previously timid Ai's lobbed up to sink the boots once I had them on the ropes. Bloody vultures.
Hi there, Am playing my second game of Iconians, the first one since patching TotA. I never finished the 1.91 game on account of what I percieved to be a bug, though it is still the case post-patch so I'm not sure. I have noticed that their race specific economy buildings, the "barter stations," do not auto upgrade to "merchant emporiums." Is this intended? I thought there may be a reason is all... as it stands, manually upgrading each barter station on a huge map can be tedious to
I believe that we have this issue fixed for 1.96; we just couldn't squeeze it in for 1.95
Thanks heaps team
We must research more persuasive adjectives. How about "kneecapkorxative"
I agree stykman... I must admit I havn't enjoy reading the posts from people having trouble with impulse, especially that poor dude who said "this is the end for me," on account of his systems incompatability. I hope it has worked out for him now that SDC has been pulled back from the brink. Sure bring on impulse... I'm sure most of us will get on eventually, but this "have to" business was a bit of a shock, not to mention boring. I'm glad you reconsidered.
I just finished a game using the Terrans where the Altarians pulled off some perfect storm colony rush. Basically, everyone in the universe (medium) had no more than 4 planets, while the Altarians had about 12. It didn't look good, as they got their military machine churning pretty quickly and started wars while most of us plebs were still researching the wheel. Long story short, it was spies that saved me and in the end won me the game. I didn't give myself a hope in hell at first and
Hi Quaternus, 1. Will be reset to DA levels with the update. (Due any day now) 2. Not sure about that, but I know it was added to make the economy more challenging. 3. Same as 2. I agree it can be frustrating sometimes, especially when all you have going for your empire is military might, but on the bright side it reduces a bit of spam.
This post makes me dream of the day when graphics hit the ceiling, because on that day gameplay, story, and art design will be prosper !!!
Couldn't agree more bro
Well as a tech trading "off," tech stealing "on" player, I heartily endorse this idea. I think it would balance military/diplomatic in much the same way a boost to trade income would. Further on this note, if tech trading could be limited to "close" relations i'd have that switched on to. It would allow the disenfranchised a better chance to slingshot themselves back into the game, kind of like that rigged Daytona arcade game. Though I suppose the fact that everyone wants to be
@ Willy I wiki'd Known Space and am curious. Would you recommend any of the many published in particular? I am looking for some space-set fiction atm. @ ID Regards meaning... aye it did... I just love the worm and you reminded me of him. :)
Wes, those comics are evil
if you gave them immortality and invunerability today , tomorrow they would scream about how bored they are
Interesting observation...Frank Herbert may disagree with your example though... God Emperor Leto was for all intents and purposes immortal/invulnerable and yet boredom was his greatest fear/burden. PS Yes I know he's not real, but he had more character than plenty of the living.
Hi Phazon, Yep. I feel your pain mate, this is exactly what happened to the LANs I went to in Melbourne. What started out as rabid gaming fests, turned into file share almost as soon as cable filled the outer suburbs. Once broadband became the norm, the LANs actually stopped altogether. The lure of the low ping/high player numbers was no more. Luckily I LAN with a small group every now and then now so I get my fix, but it was sad to see the big LANs drop out. They were
Lol yer... I think Sharon may have gotten her definition of karma off a Corn Flakes packet. Someone should probably tell her that karmic retribution is a cul de sac for tired thinkers, let alone the idea that it gets doled out at a national level by mysterious karma police which skulk around in the shadows like the grail guardians from "Last Crusade." Anyways, just a note to say I'm really enjoying your posts Zydor. You write with patience and a conceptual balance which I find
Is that the awesome cinemaware defender remade? Or the not-so-awesome other one? Nice pics btw.
Bonza, thx for the heads up Stardock, I look forward to the update
I think that's pretty significant to the health of my empire.
For sure... but what I like about trade having more clout... as in four figure clout... is that it offers a viable alternative to war, not just for the player, but for the A.I's as well. I used to really enjoy the idea that as much as I wanted to wipe an opponent out, the trade coin was just too valuable to risk. I found that this dynamic was at the heart of a diplomatic struggle, adding depth and fla
