Some advice please?

Curiosity in defeat/can't hack losing

Hi,

I'm after some expert help here if possible. Got flogged by the Arceans last night but I'm not sure if all things were fair and square... What I need is confirmation on the feasibility of these numbers...

I had around 40 planets early and around 80 when finally beaten.

They had 12 for early game... 25 for mid... and about 5 when they finally made a tech victory (I had cultural victory switched off)

But the thing is... Although I was going for the military victory, I could NOT match their research output. Now when I got to their final five planets and they won, I was able to see their numbers by placing a spy and they were something like this...

Military 900 Social 850 Research 900... on every damn planet, yet they had zero starbases. They were also producing better ships, at a better rate and had a better economy... even though mine was pretty slick. Thus my question: Is this at all possible without the "Will become the ultimate power in the universe" scenario occuring?

Because as far as I know it didn't.

What difficulty level were you playing on? This is the only thing I can think of on why those numbers were so huge. Beyond Tough, the AI gets bonuses to production/research/econ

https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Difficulty

If you were playing on Suicidal, then they had a x4 to their research output. 900/4=225 which is a little bit more realistic.

I was playing on tough, I don't like playing with a handicap.

Thanks for answering anyway, it seems like you think something was rigged which was what I thought. Maybe the pop-up bugged out or something.

Hi!
Military 900 Social 850 Research 900... on every damn planet
...
"Will become the ultimate power in the universe"
End of quote

You need to check their racial statistics to see it that was the case. I suggest you to load an old savegame and dump on them several spies. IIRC you need only the first level of espionage to check their abilities.

Ah nice one...i'll try that

cheers mate

*edit... after further thought, I just remembered I was getting slayed in the espionage department, I think there was something like ten spies on my planets and each new one of mine is costing about eighty-five bazillion-gillion bucks.

Simply stated... not possible with the saves I have... is there any other way you can think of that I can check?

Try using "Cheat Mode".

Load up using Cheat, save as another name (make sure you have a copy of the original non-cheat game as something other than autosave else its overwritten). Then use "cntrl-M", each time you do that it will add 10,000 bc's, so a dozen repeats or so of that and you should be able to generate enough funds to make as many spies as you need.

That, and "cntrl-U" to reveal all the map, together with the detailed Stats page on each race should crack it.

One of the treaties might get the visibility you need, in cheat mode its easy to bribe the hell out of him to get it.
