I'm not sure that Ender's Game is Space Opera, but since it's already been mentioned, I figure I should mention that after reading Ender's Game, you should read Ender's Shadow. Yes, there are other sequels as well, but I prefer the Shadow set of books to the original sequels.
Why does one need IE to get windows updates? Am i missing something?
I don't know about needing it to get Windows updates, but I do know that, in order to play Metaverse games, I need to have "Work Offline" not selected in IE. It's somewhat annoying. If FF is my default browser, and AIM and Guild Wars can work with IE working offline, then why can't GalCiv2, Hellgate London, or AIM Buddy Infos work with IE working offline? (Actually, I know why the buddy infos won't w
Well, the ebb and flow of the MVL continues. Of course, we all would like a little less ebb and a little more flow, but c'est la vie. Anywho, thank you, Silver, for the work you've put in so far, and hopefully you'll be able to get back into the swing of things soon.
admittedly, that was peaceloving treehugging spongiform Torians, but still.
Dang, the Torians in my games are always Warlords. If I can't make peace with them, it's always a long slugfest between the two of us.
Or is this also the integral area under the curve where these ships contribute to score for the length of their existence?
Correct. If you make one military ship, you will see your military curve jump up from 0. If that remains your only military ship, and it is destroyed, then your military curve drops back to 0. The integral under the curve is what matters (well, the integral under the curve divided by the amount of weeks that have gone by, or something like that; ot
Second pic isn't Guild Wars, although she does somewhat resemble whatever that Assassin girl was from Factions. If I had to guess, going on the name in the lower left corner, I'd say it's from Rappelz (one of those MMOs that have been popping up of late, free to play, pay to get the cool stuff). First one looks like its from some Final Fantasy game (not that I've ever played any FF game, I've just seen a few AMVs, which I at first thought meant Amateur Music Videos, and it was just tha
In addition to the "Send in a transport using Mass Drivers to weaken enemy troops" technique (never underestimate it's value, it works wonders), you should also send troop transports in fleets. It greatly improves your chances of winning, and provided you lose less troops than one transport can carry, you get to send the other transports out to other planet (use a fleet of 3-4 on their planet with the highest populace, 2-3 on the next, 1-2 on the next, etc).
Um, wow. Just...wow. I'm trying to figure out what I want to say, but all that keeps coming up is wow.
I'm in (just got back from watching the Celtics game). I'm hoping to be able to get something in for this round, but tech victories tend to take a little more time, and a lot more commitment. I've got something in the works, but its highly experimental, and I'm not sure I can pull off the win (not to mention, I think I might've upped the difficulty on that game, not necessarily the best idea when experimenting with strategies).
I used to play the ST: TNG CCG, and always played Klingons.
Wow, I remember that game. Unfortunately, I was extremely young at the time, so I wasn't very good at setting up my deck. Still, I think I've got tons of those cards laying around, unless I actually decided to throw them out at some point (unlikely, I never throw things out).
It means you can't reply to that thread anymore. Threads are usually locked either due to age (thread resurrecting is generally frowned upon) or because of controversial topics being brought up.
For the past week or so, whenever I've tried to start a Metaverse game, when I try to log in it fails due to getting an "unrecognized response." It tells me to try again later and, well, it's later, and the message is the same. Since others have certainly able to log into the metaverse during this time period, it seems likely the problem's on my end rather than serverside. Any ideas on how to fix this? Edit: Fixed it. My computer was infected a couple weeks ago, and in my attempts to
I'm very much in favor of a bonus round. I've been pretty burned out recently, and with finals coming up, I wasn't sure whether or not I should participate next round. But if it's optional, then the option's still there. Now to just finish up a game for this round (wish I coulda done it sooner, but my computer got infected over a week ago, and I just managed to fix it today, it was a tenacious little bugger).
Beating 32900K is not out of the question KP
32900k??? Wow, I really need to step up my game... ;p Edit: Good natured ribbing doesn't always get conveyed over the internet, so I added the smiley for clarification.
Woah, round 8 already? I thought I'd have a week or so before getting back into this madness! Meh, whatevs. All victory round, should be very interesting. Edit: Just to clarify, blind exploration unchecked? (We won't be exploring blindly, or more specifically we know our opponents territory from the very beginning?)
WARNING! What follows is a large wall of text. If you don't wish to read said wall, please skip to the last paragraph, where I summarize. Yeah, if CalifDude thought that this discussion was in reference to his gameplay, then that was an extremely unfortunate misinterpretation. Reloading after Jagged Knife is the course of action that 99% of those playing DA would have done (that 1% is the person, I forget who, that mentioned how Jagged Knife actually helped him in the game). This dis
Well, I played this game over a dozen times, couldn't beat 3 years, and with my schedule stacking up, I doubt I'd be able to get a better game in sometime this round, so here's my submission for Team B (let's see if I get this screenshot thing right first try this round):
Hm, guess that's easier than just resigning (a tactic I used in a rush to see the Dread Lords).
Well, I've won one game so far (didn't submit it to the metaverse, since the starting setup was pretty good and I plan on replaying it a few times, but I've saved after reaching Tech Victory in case I do end up wanting to use that game) and I just want to echo the sentiments about money. For the final sprint towards tech victory, I had to run for 15 turns or so at 28% moral (what amused me was that one of the planets that was taken from me in that final sprint flipped back to my control) all th
Well, just posted my first Year 0 win, and one thing I find odd is that I get better scores with faster games. Granted, maybe my score just went up since I used Fast tech speed (does doing that improve your research score?)
Aren't there at least two stickies about this? Edit: Alright, that might've been a little harsh. Sorry, I was spending some time in some other gaming forums, and forgot about the happy-go-lucky feel here. Now I feel bad, I've tainted the GalCiv2 forums. :(
My submission: Finally got the whole posting a screenshot thing right. Not like it took me 10 tries, or anything... >.>
Evil Buggers will probably be my MVL character, since I tend to do smallish maps for fun anyways, it'll avoid any potential confusion. I've got some free time coming up, so I'll be able to get in a couple games for Evil Buggers before the deadline.
Alright, if I can still get in on this round, I might as well join up. I'll probably try to get in another game to see if there's any improvement, but I've got plenty of time for that.
The problem is, that situation never seems to materialize. Any larger company which bought Stardock would naturally be filled with suits, and suits will inevitably start meddling in the process. They'll start looking for ways to "improve" things - after all, if a suit can't find a way to improve something, how can he justify his job?
I prefer Robert Kotick's way of saying it. "And you can expect virtually every one of those properties will be exploited on an a
