I don't know how it is in the USA, but in my country if you buy some software but you don't agree with licence conditions, you may return it back (in 14 days since delivery) and you get full return. It is the law. However if you use it, you may not return it anymore (if it does not work, you may reclaim it, it is something else). If you don't read the licence conditions, it is your problem.

This thread is about games, however my response was about "software". Yes, software is goods, however you pay for the right to use it. Games are relatively cheap. And what I wanted to say: if the software cost you let's say $619.95 (the price of Autodesk Maya), it really does make sense to be able to transfer the licence. And the reseller does know, that if you dont't have the right to transfer the licence, a lot of customers would never buy it. The reseller has some other choices to ma
No, there shouldn't be a secondary market for software.
I strongly disagree. If the software costs a lot of money, the secondary market or the possibility to transfer the licence can be usefull. Hovewer if the price of the license does not exceeed let's say $50, it does not make any sense.
Are you sure? Both sides use the same combat rules. Are you talking about what you see or have you checked the combat log too. The thing is every turn all ships of one side are trying to kill one single ship on the other side (i think the one with the highest attack). If they finish it, they start to kill exactly one other ship. Hovewer the cinematics may look like different. Beam weapons fire very fast, torpedoes and rockets are flying some time. But for the game mechanics it is not importan
Definitely Master of Orion 3. And the film.... I would say The Mummy Returns.
Exactly. You will not use 4 GB RAM. It may be usefull on some server, where you have got a lot of applications running simultaneously or a lot of users working on one application, but for your home computer it is useless. It is the same as with the the video RAM. I saw some statisticts of video cards with 256 MB and 512 MB RAM. Those with 256 MB were only a bit slower than those ones with 512 MB. The difference was so tiny, that it was only measurable by specialized software.
From time to time I get good ships. And from time to time it is good to give good ships to AI to mess up with some other AIs you don't like but you are afraid of to attack directly.
He was trying to do a good thing, but he chose the very wrong way. Some games do not belong to hands of small children. Some games are even not good for the adults. People like JT want to prevent this to happen and I agree with their effort. In my country we used to have a commission, that decided what films can or can not be played on TV (political reasons). Someone could say it was bad, but it has some advantages. After this commission was disbanded, a few good but a lot of trash film
It may be interesting to watch them, if they are near some other civilization. They may be willing to spread using the conquest, but they have no one to attack in those games. Anyway it appears to be the bug in AI script.
Yes, the whole wormhole thing is useless, unless the stable wormhole is created. Otherwise I see no reason why to use them.
3) Yes, that would be very nice! I liked the espionage as it was in the basic game. It is impossible not to attack you allied civilizations with spies, if you want to gather at least basic info about the race.
Planescape was the best game made by Black Isle. It was strange, silly, but I loved the idea.
I was very happy, that Civilisation I was released last year once more and it works on WinXP (it was the package with all Civilisation games till Civ IV). I liked to nuke barbarians.
A good sci-fi book based on a game is Farnham's Legend. It tells the back story of the X Universe games, which are made by Egosoft.
Yes, definitely yes! I heard this book a week before (the DVD Farnhams Legende is the bonus of the collectors edition of X3). I read also Nopileos (the saga continues). This book is a bonus in the collectors edition of X2. These two books were my first german books I have read :D . They are great. The games too (well I did not played X3 yet,
Thank you.
I liked the possibility to backup the game to disk. I don't see this possibility in Impulse. Am I right or is it hidden somewhere in that nasty colorfull design?
First impression: I tried Impulse and I don't like the interface. It is full of colors and I find it disturbing. If I search for something, it is hidden in those flaring colors. And the program is pretty slow in comparison with the old interface.
You may mod the technology tree too.
Topics like this one lead to flame wars very often.
I have installed WinXP SP3 and I had the same problem. The solution is NOT to uninstall TuneUp. This won't help. You have to restore visual style of Windows to its default state. Use TuneUp to do this. After you do this you will be able to install the service pack.
You also should check, that some pop-up blocker in your web browser does not prevent opening the window where you can add karma-points.
As gas prices will rise, new technologies will be used to power cars. People use oil now, because it is still relatively cheap in comparison with other propulsion systems. If the price changes many people will seek some workaround - electro mobiles, hydrogen cars etc. We have those technologies already, but we don't use them yet. But it will change.
Beam weapons are good, but it is better to choose any different technology than the other races use. The reason: if most of the races use some weapon technology, they usually use the protection against this technology. However, if you have a weapon, that does not match their protection, you can beat much stronger foes: defender shield 16: gun 4 is as effective as laser 16 (4 = sqrt(16)).
I think, that my first computer game I have played was Pacman. It was damned good: text interface on the screen with 23 lines and 80 characters.
Both games were genial. Too bad they do not work any more. I saw only one as excellent adventure game since those two - Polda . I don't know if this Czech game was sold worldwide. Perhaps the picture can tell you more...
