" A group of thieves have taken over 107 planets in the galaxy, 7 of which are ours!" Dang...!!! That that would both suck, and be really awesome, all at the same. Ona side note, when that event happened to me, for some reason the thieves had an ethical allignment of "good". They must have been led by Robin Hood or something, but I found it strange. Super Hive ftw, though if I'm going all research I prefer Super Breeder by a very small margin.
Any chance you all will release the ship designs individually, without the entire mod? Also are you planning on including the Aurura class Ancient warships?
If your having issues with your economy, especially on gigantic maps, I'd suggest going Super Breeder. I've never had an economy crash early on me with super breeder because the most I colonize the more my tax revenue skyrockets with my population. That said I rarely use it (Super Hive is just to much of a draw when I go all factories, which I always do).
For me one of the most rewarding aspects of the game is the ability to manage a large empire and become the reigning super power on maps (especially Gigantic maps). The game is always as fun for me in terms of being able to rule the universe as it is in the challenge of winning. With that in mind I'm curious as to whether or not anyone else has a habit of doing this, and how they maintain dominance in space when they allow the game to drag on and the A.I is able to catch up in technology.
Myself, I would use it for an economic capital. Me too. A pity that the economic capital is only a double strength stockmarket instead of multiplying the effect of all economic buildings on the planet as the manufacturing or tech capitals do. Then it really would be a no brainer. Even so I still prefer an economic approach. I used to make such worlds into uber tech capitals which surrounded by 16 economic starbases for an

Build some factories closer to your borders, upgrade engine tech and put more engines on your ships, or buy some ships outright near the front.
Perhaps as you upgrade your government your Capital should get better? Or maybe you should loose your Advanced Government bonus's without your capital?
Just as a note I was all ready to post about how you need to get over this event, and generally just deal because its not a big deal. Then I got punked by it in my most recent game. Small Galaxy, rare planets/stars. I've got the lead with 5 planets and 7 out of the 8 galactic resources (I haven't attacked anyone yet). I just finished researching psychic lasers and barriers, am ready to start the open war, and then.... Pirates, who proceed to trample my fleets and destroy my fully upgraded resour
Take your time, get it all right. Rushing games is always a bad idea. We'll all wait.
Depends on the hardware in your laptop compared to your hardware in your desktop. I get better performance (minus some issues with overheating) on my laptop then I do on my desktop, but thats because my laptop is less then a year old and my desktop is closing in on three. Further my laptop is a dual-core.
In response to #1 of the op. This is not a flaw. Its a set of player decisions, based on the idea that "you can't have it all". It forces you to always make some choices, a theme that is repeated in many ways throughout the game. drrider Exactly. You cant put 3x the amount of money dedicated to you for research and production into research and production. Maybe its just me but i find this s
Forcing you to not half, but quarter your production isn't a flaw? Do you have any kind of official statement saying its not a flaw? Or are you just spraying shit all over and hoping it sticks? Being a flamer does nothing to address any issues you want resolved. It just makes us want to ignore you or treat you as a child.
Calling someone a flamer and a child isn't very polite. I didn't personally insult him,

I'll preface this by saying I love Gal Civ 2. Its literally the only game I play anymore. That said I've got a couple questions regarding game issues that I hope are going to be resolved in the newest expansion. 1. The Flawed (Quartering) Production Model [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=346&aid=161261&p=1#1304210"]WWW Link[/link] does a fairly decent job of summing it up. Now I know your all aware of this (or at least some of you are, Frogboy even commented) but in the end yo
I'd just like to throw out that I support Stardock 100%. Those attacking the games and the free updates are an intense minority. Tens of thousands of people (at least) play Gal Civ 2. Half a dozen cry and complain. Don't let it sour you all to the community at large, these are the people that after winning the lottery would cry over having to pay taxes. On the whole we really enjoy the game, updates, and especially the response to feedback on the forums. I can't think of a single other company w
I got this event a couple days ago while I was gearing up for an attack on the Drengin. Largest Galaxy size. I lost sixty planets, including all but three of my main shipyards. luckily I had a transport or two on most worlds. I was able to take back more then half my worlds in one turn, though on the whole the event threw a major wrench into my plans. Oh well. Only way I know of to counteract it is putting two transports in orbit of your worlds. Even if the event happens you can crush t
Nevermind, found it. Thanks!
The various Icons/Symbols you can use to represent your empire. Is there anywhere you can find them reproduced on the net, or within your own game files (and if yes to either where)?
I'd like shipyards. Planetary Bombardment is a topic thats been done to death though...
Thanks, Galen. Yes, they are all weapons or weapon-related. Longinus was the name of the soldier who reported;y pierced the side of Jesus on the cross, hence the "Spear of Longinus". The gladius is a short Roman sword that more or less shares a silhouette with my frigate. A shamshir is a Persian variant of the scimitar, hence the ship name. And the Gae Bolga was the ultimate weapon of the Celtic hero Cúchulainn, sort of like a spear, but it would enter a man through on
I'am also filling 1-3 planets (size 4-6) entirely with economy buildings, I also buy my first 2 colony ships (I'am a consumer..), but I think my mistake is not keeping the taxes at 100% aproval at the very beginning since it gives a double pop growth...I didn't know this could make the difference...ok i'll try this way to find out Well, 100% approval helps, but keeping out of the red is also nifty. It seems (at l
I never run into that problem. When I get that red I start selling techs. Now that interesting and I also heard about others who do not have $$$ losses at the beginning neither... The problem is, even as a federalist and selling almost all my techs, I consequently face this issue for about some turns. It seems I simply can't avoid not going below 100%, which is obviously tearing me back a
Yop, at the beginning there is always (I think so) a shaggy time when you simply can't keep on working at 100%, you have to slow down and turn at about 60-70% for a while, but don't go bellow 41%, otherwise your people wont breed. You need your population to grow in order to get the cash in and also sell some techs away...and glorious days are about to come... I never run into that problem. When I get that red I
