DL-DA performance difference on lap top

I have always had great performance with DL and DA on my desktop box. On my lap top however the performance on the expansion Dark Avatar is better than what I get with Dread Lords. The settings are the same in both. Is this normal?

Depends on the hardware in your laptop compared to your hardware in your desktop. I get better performance (minus some issues with overheating) on my laptop then I do on my desktop, but thats because my laptop is less then a year old and my desktop is closing in on three. Further my laptop is a dual-core.

There are performance optimizations in DA that DL doesn't have.

Yep, in 1.6 DA got a major overhaul of its graphic engine, so that it runs significantly faster on most systems (some are not compatible, so the old engine is there as an option).
