Any other way? Because there are only a few ways to gain better repair and they all involve projects and technology, which only total about 60% , without anomalies.

I meant faster. Orbiting the planet is not fast enough, especially I need the ships to repair at least 200 HP in a short amount of time.
Is there a way to make ships repair faster? Because the fastest way I found is to upgrade them to a similar model to restore the HP in one go. But that gets expensive
Although I just remembered a strange thing that happened in my game that contradict the fact the AI's always stick to one weapon only. In my current game, everyone (with the exception of the Thalans, no surprise there) was using missiles, including me. Then, during my war with a custom race, the Terrans surprised me by showing that they have developed beam weapons while I was not looking. Strange, don't you think?
I see, so maybe luck is a factor? I was wondering, who else have a good stroke of fortune?
Oh believe me, it is painful. Painful to see me struggle to actually be something, knowing that even the minor races have better ships than you. Besides, this is a HUGE map. Having 2 planets may be OK if it is a tiny map. But the fact that everyone is at least 100 times more powerful than you, with random events working against you, you will feel pain. Come back to me once you felt pain.
Go to build menu. Select "Nothing" as the item.
Funny you should ask. I did put in points into Luck, but only for the enhanced combat abilities it grant.
Yes, ship building and the ships themselves affect your income in two ways: 1.) When you build ships, your income will decrease since you are spending money to produce manufacturing points that will build up towards a shiny new ship (ie, the cost of the ship is in manufacturing points). If you are strapped for cash, halting production on some planets is a good way to tighten the budget. 2.) Ships with weapons and constructor modules will cost you money in terms of upkeep every
Remember the events that would give you a lucky ranger? Well, I got 7! Talk about Lucky!
Beware though: Some AI's will favor one type of weapon over all others no matter the circumstances. An example would be the love affair between the Thalans and Beam Weapons.
However, I do find HP to be useful on the issue of heavily armored flagships (i.e. ships at the size of at least large and have shielding like no other). Because probability states that sooner or later, you will get hit for damage. Simply put, even you roll badly, at least they will not wreck your ships unless your luck is really bad!
Thanks for the advice, everyone. However, the game is lost because the Torians (who are doing surprisingly well this time since they always sucked in my previous games) got beyond mortality and their empire is too big and their ships are too powerful for me to stop them from getting technology victory, which is imminent. At least I will make sure this will not happen to me again, because I do remember my mistakes and I learn from them.
If you want to see what are the AI's using, A trick I use is to open up the diplomacy screen, look over to the AI's ship-list-for-sale, scroll about, and right click on some interesting ones. That should help out (somewhat).
Normally, I will not suck this badly. But, probably do to extremely bad luck, I am stuck with 2-3 planets for the enitre game. No thanks to the fact my place is COMPLETELY isolated from everyone else and they snatched up all the good planets. This is certainly not my finest moment!
I think it is fixed in an even pattern.
Another reason why they will attack you is that if you attack and kill off too many civilizations in a short time (I get this problem when squashing minor races), You will get a permanent diplomacy penalty with most civilizations simply because they are afraid that they are next. Just saying...
Modding the dialogue is quite easy - you'll need to use the GC2_Conversations xml file. I've never tried to write new dialogue, but there's a fair amount that doesn't appear in the game due to bugs that I've managed to mod back in. It's not hard .
Ohh, can you tell me what did you do to mod them back in?
I have a question: How to use downloaded ship designs?
I know that the game have very funny one-liners but I was thinking: Can you mod the conversation files to include even more funny one liners?
Not that unrealistic actually... I would go into great detail about this but I will not.
Speaking of said defenceless ships, I build them early in the game so when I do get weapons tech, I can just upgrade them. Poof: instant military!
It occurs one every approx. 52 turns (I think) I will need to research this a bit.
You know, for the first 6 months that I have beem playing Ultimate Edition, I never have those alignment changes before. Now that I have them, they pop up ALL over the place!
So I heard. Wonder if they will get Patrick Stewart in?
