omg...as a line jumped into my face whenI wante to make another reply I think I found the solution...even though it's one I dislike: Debug Message: Failed to create ship gfx from model: 4, 4, 4, 5, UD_Tha_Troop_c1, S8, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0 and of course...as soon as I change the production queue to something else the game doesn't crash. And when I look at shipyard...there is no picture for that ship. It's simply a tiny hull+troop-module+2 extras for looks and giggles. I design

a little background: the version before 1.92( or was it 1.93?) ran fine..except for the stupid spy-crash. I played a game at 1.92 and after a while it simply crashed during the turn-calculations. Ok...1.95 was just out...so I updated to 1.95. Now...excactly the same issue. I dont have the save games from the previous games anymore, but I think it was also after about 1.5 years into teh game, now the crash occured in May of the 2nd year. Not sure if that's just coincidence or not...but it'

Maybe it's because I tend to play at slow/very slow research and my games are usually over before I have researched all/most, but where in the tech tree do I find the MCC for evil Thalans?

8 Replies 8,476 Views

Let's finish this quickly... The red swarm destroyed quite a lot of my mining starbases. That was the only problem it caused and that only because of the bug in Thalan tech tree. Once I started mass-producing new ships that were designed to beat the Drengin they soon found themselve without any ships. I conquered some planets, some flipped to me...and when they had 2 planets left...they surrendered. The end. I'm 99% certain that I started this as a Metaverse game...yet

haven't won technically yet..and it's not over until it's over. ;P as for the event...I have no clue how I could have missed it, but if you say that there is such an event then I guess it must be that... some screenies: before and after the "Tourism" event. quite a sick event for whoever has a massive "territory"-lead. Yikes...it seems I can't edit my own replies, while I can edit my original post. Well, I guess that means that I cannot correct at least some of all those emberassing typos. I use to post first and then edit quite a few times until the posting is in a state I deem "not too emberassing". sorry for that :( edit: Now that's odd..I can edit this one, but not the above one...strange.

Year 3 continued or: The galaxy is a cruelsome place....for the others I will add some screenies later, for now I will just write what I got to write. Year 3 developped "terrible" - if you want to have an interesting game. early during the year there was an event that increased Tourism-income tenfold. Now...when you are the one who -at this time- controls ~75% of the galaxy this makes quite some effect. Pictures for this inc later ;P Now, from tha

What's wrong with the Korx anyway? Yesterday I thought I had a bug in the game...but after reading above that they "generally" build no armed ships that seems to be normal. but why?

Unlike my 2 "old" AARs from DA I think I will write this more in a "technical and strategical"-way, not so much supported by a story or going too much into detail. Mainly because I think there's some lack of current Thalan AARs for ToA ...and as the game is developping quite interestingly and somehow Thalan@ToA@Maso feels about as or maybe even tougher as Thalans@DA@Suicidal ;P se

If you want to be a "serious" player in the colony rush at the higher difficulties you need to focus on that. I personally love the Thalans and I admit - when I play at the difficulties Maso and upwards I reload the map unti I get a 300% production bonus tile on my homeworld. Then I use to construct a cheap colony ship (Small Hull+1 Colony module). Those suit my Medium maps with lots of Stars just fine. If I need to fly longer distances I also construct a colony ship with 2

First of all I should note that I use the TA-expansion. The ships were custom made Transports (Tiny Hull+Transport Module and after the event I built small Hulls + Transport module + Ion drive) Both types showed the additional damage just fine when you clicked on the ship in galaxy view. When I get home today I will build the standard transport ship and try it with that.

It seems there's something majorly wrong with that event. I admit...so far I barely cared about the Council events as they either didn't matter or the AIs voted stupid anyway. But now I got the event where the Transport ships should get armed. Me+1 AI made it so that they get armed with 5 points in each category. As I was lacking behind in weapon tech and warships, but had already a lot Transports flying around that was quite great. But a few turns later when I wante to put t

There is a bug connected to using "information warfare". Let me explain at an example: Invading a 16bn-planet with a morale of ~50% yields you ~1600-3200 aditional troops. So far so good. If your invasion succeeds - still no problem If it fails and you attack again right away in the same turn the bug "strikes": Despite the population being lower they still have the same low morale, which allows you to use "Information Warfare" again.

If you play for the sake of winning at the end...turn 'em off. If you play for playing's sake (aka having fun) ... they are nice as they force you to adapt to a new situation. I for one would love more Mega events as I often have games without any at all and I find those games boring usually ;P
I for one would definately turn these random events off - if only I could find out how to do so. Any help on that?
At the screen where you make the settings for
Early on focus on getting your pop up - have tax rates low to get 100%.
I second that. Plus I use "Ferry-Ships" to transport my population around asap. Early on I use ColonyShips with 2 modules, but switch to Troop-TRansporters with 1M as soon as possible. Then I take population off my high-population worlds and ferry it over to that worlds that have been newly colonized and/or are low-pop.

This event can certainly screw you up, but you can also use it to your advantage under the right circumstances. If you already got a decent military...esp. lots of troop transporters you can get to their planets QUICKLY you can "simply" take those planets (even though at probably massive losses). If you play on a high difficulty where you happen to have a quite large tech deficit compared to your AI opponents you can use that to get a lot of high-techs that will save you massiv

Well...do what you would like to do I'd say. Buy the original game...if it bores you or you don't like it ...well at it's current price it's not exactly a major loss. If you later decide that you like it and want to see all the improvements from the expansions ...just buy the expansion bundle. At the current rates it's just $5 more than buying the complete bundle right away. That's my take at least ;P Of course I personally wouldn't want to play DL without the DA-e

You live in Spain and complain? Buy the stuff online and profit from and USD/EUR rate of ~1.55 atm. I just looked at the "Purchase" Site and its USD 60 for the bundle of the original game+Dark avatar expansion + Twilight or Arnor expansion that should be out soon. That's a mere EUR 45 for all that (inluding the 17.5% VAT you are going to pay iirc) If you want the GalCivII feeling for real cheap, get the original game only for USD 20 = EUR 15. If there

I bet the Arceans simply overran the Terrans and didn't take prisoners. So Alan bradley just cannot continue his story. The Arceans acted just my kind of scum! Very evil. I like 'em.

One thing I'm wondering is on that map, which are the Amatons? The 2 planets at the eastern side with black-red-yellow "banner". At the time the pic (they are on the upper map, on the 2nd galaxy-map they were already extinct ...) was taken they were down to 2 planets. At the best time they had 7 or 8. 2 were taken by the drengin, some by me (and some of those lost to the JK again, but didnt matter)
