Well, I can assume that this question may be just as hard to answer as the question about the "best race", but what is in your opinion the weakest race in ToA? I think I will want an extra challenge in my next game ... and I wasn't very versatile in my picking of races so far. I can't really stand the Thalans anymore (for now at least), Korath seemed way too easy...so I maybe would like to play the race that is considered "crap" next round.

Well to get such a tile on your homeworld by using Ctrl-N in an immense map would require a damn huge amount of luck ;P Are you guys sure that you have seen every colonizable planet? I mean...it could be on that lvl4 Radioactive world nobody wanted to colonize... Well, guess I'm lucky. I have yet to play a game where I DIDN'T find the 700% production AND 700% research tile eventually. But then as written above, I play usually medium maps with lots of AIs, so I can be guar

Yes, afaicr it's been always like that. In theory it ould stir things a bit up, but in practice it will probably always make the strong ones even stronger and the weak ones still weaker in comparision. Imo the event "impact" could stay as it is, but should be very short duration (like for 1 month only) and not as it is now "for ages"

I think it could be related to a bug of mine I had in a previous version of ToA: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/316956"]Crash due to ship-design[/link] Carielf wrote that reply:
In version 1.96 which is now available, the game does not crash, but your ships may look a little funny since when it can't find the model file, it just starts sticking the ship components on the hull. This problem can occur if you overwrite existing ship designs.<br
I have considered it on multiple occasions (I normally play Obscene, but go Suicidal for Zero Year Wins), but in all fairness, when I'm playing, I'm too obsessed with micromanaging my way to succes (or rather to survival, I find that surviving tends to give me the win) to remember the important events and when they happened. I am also too lazy (ironically) to plough through the event log afterwards to fill in the blanks...
Well, I never went through event logs myself

A correction for the text of Year3, as I can't edit anymore:
Something odd here: There was no way whatsoever to create a war between Terrans and Altarians.
Was supposed to read "Something odd here: There was no way whatsoever to create a war between Terrans and Korx." Terrans were nicely in war with the Altarians, but both Korx and Terrans didnt want to war eachother. No clue why though...

Year4 UP brought another stupid event: Freighters are protected now. Who cares...I'm the only one with any left anyway. Here's a screenie of April 2230: The Terrans are long gone, all minors taken over, the wars still raging ...and me in the akward situation that I will win an Influence victory in under 10 weeks. A month later or so the economic boom is over. And I Prepare for my next victim: the Torians.<b

Year3 UP decision was to give Constructers 5 min speed. I always like that :) Latest here I completly abandoned (or at least delayed) my game-plan. My military at the beginning of Year3 was a joke compared to the others. The only bright sight was that ALL of them used solely Missiles at this point. So I hastily researched Missile-defense techs and stuffed my inadequate ships with those. The insane income (net-income soon went up to ~5k per week) allowed me to achieve

Year2 First I did my usual stuff: pushing for some tradegoods. I got what I always want to have: Eys of the Universe + Harmony Crystals + even managed to get Diplo Translators. Terrans got Restaurant of eternity very soon though...no chance for me to get this, even though I like to have that too. Situation was meanwhile looking gravely on the military-side and I was -as expected-already hated by the Torians, Altarians and Terrans. In November some exceptional event struck....S

Somewhere in space a Petunia said "Not again". Somewhere else in the universe - or maybe in a different universe alltogether - at the exact same time a Korath said "Not again!" too. [i]Yes, the Korath Emperor knew that feeling all too well. A Higher Power somehow is dumping them on a planet, takes away all previous knowledge about technology, culture and all possessions. Then they are supposed to struggle for domination of the galaxy they are in. And ev

In my usual medium maps there always seem to be exactly 1 of each. not sure if it's more or less in larger/smaller maps, but in every single game, also the 4 ones I started in ToA, I had 1 of each.

Does anyone know if there is somewhere a decent table with all the stats of the weapons etc for ToA? There are things on wiki and elsewhere for the DL/DA,but I haven't been able to find anything for ToA so far.

As the title says, why are there barely AARs for the highest 3 difficulties, let alone for Suicidal/Obsc.? I admit, while some of the other AARs are well-written and everything, I'd really love to see how others are playing/winning their games at the top-difficulties. I just wanted to write another one for my current game at Obscene-difficulty, but in the end I think people are more interested in well written stories than in reports about "tough struggles". And as nobody

play with abundant anomalies and a galaxy that is not too densely populated. You would need to be extremly unlucky to go bancrupt with that as there are usually enough 1000/500 bc anomalies to be found (coupled with those that give bonusses to econ and morale)
AI is being stubborn in a trade? Sweeten the deal with a planet or two. Make sure they're underdeveloped and sitting right next to your biggest influence generators. Two or three turns later you get the planet back and can do it all over again!
Thanks for that one :) Playing a Obscene-game as Korath atm and I got a cluster of planets around my starting position and part of that were 2 class 4-planets. I had only colonized 1 ...and let an AI colonize the other

well, I still do use all-factories, mainly because of the "tight economy". So I only have to pay the maintenance once instead of twice for buildings that only run at 50% or so. But all factories means much slower research these days compared to DA

and another one: when your flagship flies from anomaly to anomaly watch every turn to what anomaly it will fly next. If it is a "Civilization Graveyard" switch research to something insanly expensive fly the ship manually to that anomaly ...and with some luck it's a 25%-research-database-anomaly. Afterwards you can switch back to your normal research. Of course, you can use it also for your current research, but if it's something relatively cheap it's quite a waste. Th

My heart bleeds a lil bit to give away one of my most evil tactics, but so be it. If there's a race you are not at war with but which has ressource starbases you absolutely MUST have yourself (and I usually want them all...) there are 2 ways: declare war and take them by force - or if that's not possible (eg because the race is currently simply too powerful for that...): - Bribe another race to declare war on them (ideally they are at war with somebody else already anyway..

I probably lost my love for the Thalans somewhat (they my absolute favourite during DA) but still they were doing pretty good when I did 3 games with them on ToA. For what it's worth, here's how I handled them: 1 super-production planet (usually homeworld) where I early only build a fleet of Colony-ships then Constructors to grab as many ressources as possible and then try to build as many Tradegood/GAs there as possible. I usually tried to get Harmony Crystals (helps a ton

well, there are probably some players that could do without that, but for me that's prett much the only reason why I even dare to start games at Obscene/Suicidal. I find that with all the bonusses the AI gets at those levels the AIs tend to build really sick ships. Esp. at Suicidal the miniaturization-bonus coupled with the insane research capabilities lets the AIs build ships that sometimes are able to destroy whole fleets of my ships. If not the AI would be rather stupid in the reg

the Jagged Knife event is a reoccuring discussion. But it's nothing that came into the game with ToA, been in the game at least also during DA. As for game breaker...well Mega events are supposed to be that. And as for "needs to be removed"...hell, no. If you are the one that lags behind in tech (as one probably will be when one is playing at the highest 2-3 difficulties) and is military in a disadvantage compared to the AI...this even also can be one great advantage that allows
+ FIXED: Bug where if an empty string was read from the registry, the function would still return true, which would make it impossible to submit games to the metaverse.
I had this in my last game - couldn't transmit the result to the Metaverse. Does it mean, that if I had it once I'm likely to have the same problem again in my current game? I don't start suicidal level games any day as they tend to take up quite a lot of my time. But if I can be certain that I can't trans
