I did some research on the effect of buying research labs. You can do research without a research lab. With research spending at 34% and no research labs, the Basic Logistics tech takes 13 weeks. Buying a lab reduces that to 11 weeks. Buying a second lab reduces it to 9 weeks.

That is very helpful. Will two research labs cut the amount of time required to research an item in half? Will two factories cut the amount of time required to produce one item in half or just give you the ability to produce two items at the same time?
Do MPs convert into credits or do they represent something else? How about TPs?
>>your influence is the strongest in the area Ok, that's what I thought. So I guess my starbase is producing a strong influence but it is localized and that is why the unpopulated outlying areas are not influenced by me.
The IP generated by an alien planet is completely inependent of anything you do. It is based on factors like what they have built there, how high the population is, even how nice the planet is to live on. So what does it mean when the area around an alien planet turns to my color on the mini-map because of my starbase? 1) Increase your base influence ability with special projects, research, and mining influence re
Hi! A mouse over shows influence = 95 from planet That's VERY high. Usuall numbers are in range 10-20. BR. Iztok I guess that's why my influence victory strategy isn't working so well.
A mouse over shows influence = 95 from planet plus more IP from other factors. Does '95 from planet' mean this planet will always have a base IP of 95 that is not dependent on circumstances on the planet?
I have a game where the mini-map shows my color surrounding the populated foreign-controlled planets due to my influence starbases. However, the planets still have high IPs. that doesn't make sense to me. Also, beyond the area of my color is unpopulated space which is not my color. How do I go about influenncing that area to my color?
OK. I get it now. Thanks.
I can see that applying to an economic starbase but would an influence starbase increase production?
Thanks. I see you also can't decommission them. I guess it doesn't matter since they don't seem to be costing me anything for maintenance. I find that quite puzzling. How can you have a starbase that doesn't require maintenance costs?
I'm still not sure if I get it. If I increase my research % will that decrease the amount of time it takes to research something?
There is an alien planet that has a much higher IP than any of my planets. Is there a way to figure out what is giving this planet a high IP?
Is there a way to move starbases? I built some influence starbases without realizing they have to be close to another planet to actually produce any useful influence.
The manual says 'if nothing is being built , then the costs go back to your treasury and the people go and work on something in the private sector'. So is there any reason not to leave the spending slider maxed out? Also, I'm not clear on how the military, social and research production sliders work? If research is on 100% does that mean that research occurs more quickly than if it is at a lower level, but no work is done in other area?
