sorry for the double post, it wouldn't let me paste this half in the first post for some reason. When Wikus betrays Chris it can be taken as an embodiement of human nature, granted, but is also beyond any concept of idiocy. It wasn't in his best interest at all. It was, in fact, the exact opposite of his best interest in every way, shape and form. The fact that he could pilot an alien device that he could have no idea how t

This is spoilers, so don't read it if you don't want to hear what I thought about the movie, and a little bit about what happens. It's also mostly a copy-paste of something I posted in another forum. I just felt like sharing here too. 8) The deplorable acts, and brutality of the movie can be directly related to current and past treatment of humans versus humans. I thought it was a novel idea to use that as a human vs alien concept. The movie was not was I was expecting, but that's not

star gate isn't the same thing as star trek .......... Since the name of the original game is Galactic Civilizations, any mod looking for a name is obviously going to use their universe name (Star Trek, Wars, Gate, etc) and add Civilizations to it. It's not unique or creative (There's also nothing wrong with it, it's just obviously the first name anyone will think of). It seems basic to me.

I don't have a direct link, but a quick google search should bring up the original banned in the US stuff, like the "sex" scenes and cards. It's pretty easy to install and get your copy up to status with the unedited version of the game. I will note to anyone wondering, that the scenes are laughable, and worse and much more explicit scenes can be seen on any TV show that isn't a cartoon, and many that are cartoons. To anyone who's n

Argueing which is more evil is a bit moot. It's a search engine and personally, if you put sensitive information in the hands of others you probably deserve what's coming to you. If you're ranting about google spying on you while trusting microsoft you're an idiot. I've found that Bing doesn't search any better than google, and in some cases worse. I also hate the screen trash that Bing gives me. Form Also, I found this

"Well, it looks like everything we've ever done to prevent piracy has failed. It's given us terrible PR, many people claim that they'll never buy our products again, and the pirated versions were released the same day as our games, any ideas?" "Let's ramp up our DRM and make it harder!' "We've done that for the past ten years, and it's never, ever worked." "Oh. Well, we're still making millions of dollars off people who to buy new copies of the game for more activation

@ Haree78 My point, and most definately my passion for it, are quite over stated and dramatized in this thread. I go on about it in this thread, defending my viewpoint, but am far less of a zealot than I come out to be for the anti-DLC cause. I have a lot of DLC, I just also have my opinion and decided to stay with this thread

@ aeortar - I'd quote you but that would be a formatting nightmare, and I'm lazy. I understand your points, but disagree with them, naturally. A game (developer+publisher) that earns my scrutiny is very likely to never see my money again. Games that have either of those companies in them, also earn part of that

Firefox is much superior to IE, and IE7 has been security problems that were addressed in v8. Going back to 7 isn't the correct response imo. I highly recommend Firefox, or a different browser if you'd like, but FF, with it's addons is where to be.

I'm whining about a product that is being overcharged for and lapped up by the masses, which will push forward a trend that I think damages the gaming community as a whole.

I was done with this, as Savyg and I were done beating our dead horses, but I'll bite one last time. [e digicons]|-)[/e] Plus I'm bored at work with no work flow and most everyone is on vacation. The death of retail isn't my problem with DLC. I can count on one hand the number of DLC's I've bought and not been disappointed, but at least we can agree to disagree. I'm not sure I even bothered to finish C&C Generals, much less Zero Hour, and Red Alert 3 isn't worth the words to degrade it, and we aren't talking about the expansion yet. I don't see why you would waste money on an expansion if you don't plan on enjoying it. You're just buying 10x larger "DLC" for 2 or 3x more the price. You may have always had this mentality, but i

Your posts are painfull to read. Please try to at least add some spacing and basic punctuation. Even if it's not your first language, it will at least increase your chances of others helping you. First, 3DSMax requires patience and practice, but you should stick with it and someday you'll be good enough to make your own models. Second, You can't control how a Race will expand or not, unless you want an unbalanced (and unenjoyable) game. Lastly, Gimp is free and will let

@ZehDon I don't mean to say that Steam or Impulse are useless, as you can get good deals from them or earlier access to games, but digital distribution has along way to go before I jump onboard. Currently I'll only buy games that are utterly unavailable at retail. Getting the game cheaper is not the norm, but an exception, sadly. The sales and bargain games might be good, but quite a few stores around where I live have games go on clearence too. I picked up the Witcher Enhanced for $2

Morrowind had free (and awesome) DLC. GalCiv had free updates that might has well have been DLC compared to some others. X3 had an amazing free release with it's 2.0 and Bala Gi update, as well as the Terran Conflict 2.0 Aldrin Missions. There's been a monumental amount of great DLC released for free, anyone who says otherwise is ignorant. What bothers me is that most DLC isn't worth the price, even if it's fun to play. The Fallout 3 DLC is fun, but $10 for it in compar

Entrenchment is still a DLC, but at least it adds a decent amount of content for the price. The other 2 DLC's, plus it, will perhaps equal a decent expansion, and thus be worth the $30 price tag.

@Dr.Gonzo I realize I can outpace my movie collection with more memory, but if I can increase the movie/space ratio, I'd be happier. A complete guess is that I have 500 DVD's (including the boxed sets). I'm also just going to say that each dvd is 8gb each. I'm sure there are plenty of 4gb or so in there, but the blu rays are more and I'd rather plan for more room and need less than vice versa. In my near pointless scenario those 500 dvds come to around 4000gb, with another 40gb each m

@MetaNerd3ooo I'm not a fan of macs either. [e digicons][/e] I'd crack open my HD DVR and try to jimmy-rig a few more terabytes of memory in there if I could do so without most likely breaking the first three units in my attempts and voiding their warranties with wreckless abandon, but I thought this route would be easier. @the_Monk It's more a convenience issue, as sorting through the .vob files, as well as setting them up in a fluid way is more of a hassle than say, having an .avi or .mkv of the movie all in one go, with a subfolder with any extras from the movie I may have kept. I'm not looking to keep any sort of menu system, but I would like to have a file structure that I can easily select through my TV screen. Keeping the .Vob files and playing them directly is Plan A.2 I am just hoping for an ea

L4D was fun, but most definately a 50 dollar mod imo. I would have never payed more than $10 for it, I ended up getting it for free via a gift on Steam. I enjoyed it, but again, even after playing it for hours, wouldn't have payed more than bargain bin prices for it. Maybe L4D2 will tempt me more. The market is buyer beware, but if Stardock released GalCivIII, promising to update it as they do all of their games, and then didn't, and produced GalCivIV with all of the pr
