Why oh why did you have to revive this thread? I'm seriously asking you. pssst: it's only revived when more people answer, so don't! wait a minute, OH SHI-

You'll have a tough time getting this through stardock. If I'm not mistaken, they keed saying you can't "Own Space". Ha, that's what they say in reference to sphere of influence, but let's follow up on their consistency regarding that issue. I can distinctly recall being asked to move my ships away from the altarians' border last game, and this is not an isolated incident. I have also seen 4 different UP proposals concerning territory: -In an
My idea is simple: Add some tile bonuses that can strengthen two different types of structure. One that I thought of was this. "Waterfall: There is an unusually large waterfall on this planet, believed to be one of the largest in the galaxy. Tourists will fly hundreds of light years to see this wonder. However, this massive waterfall has tons of energy potential; we could build a hydroelectric plant here. You will receive a 100% bonus to any cultural centers built here OR an add
I am going to voice a different way to implement this (sorry for hijacking your thread). There should be an option where one can set up "militarized zones" in space... ...Thoughts? Anyone responding to this can do so here: WWW Link
There should be an option where one can set up "militarized zones" in space. Basically, one would set some sort of boundary where you declare that it is 'your space' and that you will go to war with any civ that enters. This could be an empty threat on your part, but if you had the military, the AI's would take you seriously. Setting up these sort of zones would decrease relations with other civs, particularly if said zones are near or in their sphere of influence, as it is openly militaristic,
So theres 5 starbases. Military, Economics, Influence, Mining x2 (Resources + Asteroids). Fine, great. I can remember in DL, before I got it upgraded, I always hated scouts. They were totally useless, they only revealed thin little swaths of space, and with the auto-explore mode they wasted a lot of time just streaking to random places rather than revealing distinct areas. I still built them anyways because the map needed to get revealed somehow, and the AI always built them, so they must b
YES! I have always hated the wormholes in GalCiv2, they are totally useless, I have my survey ships steer clear of them. Permanent wormholes would be an excellent addition to GalCiv2, in fact just get rid of the unstable ones altogether. I posted this idea myself in an old thread, glad to see that this thread is up. They would take up about a 3x3 area and ships could be almost instantly teleported between the two ends of a wormhole. I don't t
I would have to agree with everyone here, I never use them for myself. They take up one space too many. Plus I prefer to avoid war altogether, and by the time I do need to build up a military, I prefer to build massive, near-invincible ships rather than fleets of logistics-demanding fighters. Hell, I rarely even leave ships in orbit, I just fly around and hunt down ships before they get near my planets. But, I do enjoy how it speeds up invasions of enemy worlds. In fact, all of the other de
Personally I use diplomacy all the time, in the ways mentioned above, starting wars, forging alliances, and ripping everybody off. I tend to use alliances solely for avoiding wars. I just check my neighbors, use the ethics choices to model their alignment, and then after I am allied with 2 or 3 powerful civs, I research xeno ethics and buy neutral for 2500 bc. Basically, for me, alliances are just to keep strong people off my back.
To Stanley Tarrant - uh, what?
5- To Millertime who said ..."The truth should come out from yourself, once you have thought deeply on whatever matters you are concerned with."... I have to respectfully disagree. If everyone followed their own personal truths (which unfortunetaly too often happens)... well, I'll let you think about that a little longer, I'm not really sure it deserves to much attention. Forgive me, I have a tendency to use unclear language. I don't think you
Can't think of any other games. I like the idea of banning weapon types, but I think that would fit better as a UP proposal than a diplomatic option.
Hey, I'm new, but if he doesn't have enough LOGISTICS then you cannot build large ships even with the other techs researched? Just an idea... I think that the default logistics for everyone, with no techs or bonuses, still is sufficient to support one huge hull.
Is it just me, or does every single God thread end up being a bible/creationism thread?
Good God this thread is long. I started reading them, but there are too many, so forgive me if I restate something already said. Also some of these aren't really Mega Events, as they are pretty general and don't target the strongest civilization. Galactic Expansion: Due to some unknown physical law, the fabric of space itself has rapidly expanded, pushing star systems and their planets apart. The speed of all ships is effectively halved. Time warp: The most powerful civiliz
LotR, for sure. Starwars, sure. Matrix is cool, I like "Navras". Mad World (in Donnie Darko). There are many others, but I can't think of any right now.
the word is god. christ is the god of the old testiment. Correction: Christ is the God of the New Testament Personally, I don't think that the Bible, or any text for that matter, is a legitimate source for spiritual truth. While I would recommend reading the Bible for inspiration , it is only to get you thinking about ideas you may not have considered before. The truth should come out from yourself, once you have thought d
HA HA LOL another meatbag!!!
Agreed. Build you own ships.
Well, Destroying a planet is a short term plan- you can quickly take out planets, but the tradeoff is you don't gain anything significant. Whereas conquering it traditionally is more long term- its harder to invade, but you get some value out of the planet. But you already knew that. I usually play gigantic maps, which are very long, so I go with the long term plan, good old fashioned combat.
Here is my formula. 1. Buy a factory. Start building a colony ship. 2. Que up another factory, then farm, then either lab or entertainment... Whatever works, but if you are building colony ships, you will be continually depleting your population. I recommend building farms later because you won't utilize them until your population starts building up.
Well, I'm gonna say movies, for the following reason: I can watch and be mildly interested in a sh**ty movie, but I simply cannot focus and read a sh**ty book.
If they just re-released an updated version of Tie fighter then i would be happy Hell yeah!
There are definitely Precursor Libraries in DL. I get them all the time.
Well, it all depends on what type of victory you're going for. Personally I would swap the Creativity and Luck for Morale and Diplomacy. But thats just me.
