Is Thief that Splinter Cell-esque game where you steal stuff (thief...stealing...or did I miss something)? Cause I played one of those (#3 I think) and I thought it was awesome. Age of Empires I&II and Starcraft are awesome and they're 2D. Well, duh. There's no need to write these down, everyone worth listening to agrees. Oh and SCII will be awesome too.<br/

Yeah, I think we're all in consensus; The AI's military strategy is simply lacking, and downright stupid sometimes. AI needs to: A/ Rethink ship design, balancing firepower and speed/effective range B/ Do a more complete evaluation of other civs before they go to war, including economic and manufacturing strength, soldiering and invasion capacity, as well as alliances and the possibility of multiple fronts. C/ Send ships in advance before declaring war, being swift an

Small ships are at a disadvantage due to the granularity of the ship design system: components are so large relative to small hulls that you end up with a significant proportion of space that you can't use. By not requiring fighters to have engines or life support (or sensors), you at least get some more room to cram in more weapons. I am working on a mod that will hopefully help a little. Right, that's the idea. The carrier would house all the engines,

This has probably been suggested before, but its buried somewhere if it is, so here is my idea. I want to see something to the effect of carriers be introduced to the game. My idea was there could be a "hangar module", similar to a trade module or construction module. This module would be restricted to use on cargo, large, and huge hulls. This module would allow a vessel to carry a certain amount of logistics points of ships (I was thinking 12, 4 tiny ships or 3 small ships). When t

I tried placing an agent on the Tri-Quan superproject to cause the enemy's soldiering to drop 25 before invading but their soldiering remained unchanged! Only after I captured the planet with the Tri-Quan did there soldier drop. I think this is a bug because when I place the agent it suggests the enemy is taking a

Mining starbases are probably the most valuable things in the game, so for them alone, get constructors. Personally, I use influence starbases all the time, even when I'm not going specifically for influence victory, I can at least plant them in my ally's space and take his planets while he gullibly trusts me. Hehehe... Economy star bases are an afterthought for me, but they are useful for boosting production. You start with one space miner, and for me it's the last

1.Energy cannot live ...just like atoms cannot live? Sure, no wavelength of light can be considered life, but some sort of complex network might. This begs the question "what is life?" 2.It cannot be a conousness What is consciousness? Spiritual views aside, consciousness is just a by-product of a complex neural network. Again, if such a network is possible with matter, why not energy? <div

You lack Military Resource Mining bases. Explore Thalan territory for any mining bases with red colors, those are the military ones. Fully equipped, these will boost all ships' weapons and defenses by 40%, and they likely have 3 to 5, doubling or even tripling their ships' firepower. Take these bases out and all their ships will decrease in firepower; you will notice that their military rating drops significantly even though you havent destroyed a single ship, but they are all weakened. If p

diplomacy helps you get better trades, like you said. This will in turn help you get better relations, because making trades does slightly increase your relations with a race, or you can give gifts, which will seem really valuable so they will like you more. Finally, you make alliances by trading an alliance treaty, so again, it will come more cheaply to you.

are there any physics that support the possibility of traveling faster than light? Warp Drive. No, I'm serious. I don't remember where I saw this (perhaps in Discover magazine or something), but apparently "warp travel", not too dissimilar than what is depicted in Star Trek, is theoretically possible. Basically, it involves "stretching" space time, so you aren't really moving faster than light, but when you "stretch" the space behind you and

Three guys die and go to heaven. They arrive at the pearly gates, and St. Peter is there, and he says "ok, I need to check you in, so please tell me how you died." The first guy says "Well, lately I've suspected that my wife was cheating on me. So today, I decided I would come home an hour early to see if I could catch her in the act. I go in the elevator to the tenth floor (where my apartment is), and I hear noises from the bedroom. I fling open the door, and I see my wife naked

Ok, technically, yes, all matter is energy, according to Einstein's famous equation, E=MC^2, where E is energy and M is mass. However, in practical terms, energy refers to photons (light), as the "energy" in mass is mostly uncontrollable at our current technological level. Electrons, a particle found in atoms that has mass, are the most common carrier of energy that we use. The electrons themselves are not the energy we use. Chemical energy: take trinitrotoluene for ex

This isn't the order I build, just the balance I have in the end. I build one counter-espionage on each world (remember, it provides 20% morale, which is decent). Then, I build two farms AND two morale centers. This brings population up to just under 20 billion (with all the farm upgrades). Building a third farm will radically skew the planet balance, you need like 5 additional morale centers once you build that third farm, so only do it for huge planets, they will be your fat cash c

What setting do you play on, millertime? Usually, if I try to do that (the whole sneak up on them and invade every planet in one turn thing), the AI starts noticing, and they'll begin reinforcing their worlds and putting pickets in orbit around the planets. The only time it worked was when I stabbed one of my allies in the back using spore ships and killed them in one turn, and as you can imagine, it had consequences. Usually I play on Tough. <br

I have nothing against God, to have something against him would be to believe in him in some way. As I said, If I turn out to be wrong, and there is a God, then simply being sent to a place where God is not, is just the same as my life now. And I lose nothing, though I gain nothing either, but it makes no difference...except i'll be dead. A convenient cop-out. You said: If Hell is not a place of punishment, but a plac

god is A humans way of explaining that which he never will understand (i.e) (god created the universe). This argument seems quite primitive to me. From what I have seen, most people who argue in these threads do not believe in God because they use God to explain creation. It is important in debate to mind your audience. there is no way that the universe could have had a beginning or will have an end. because of the f

While I have to disagree with dreadknought's proposition, I do agree with his underlying premise, that starbases, with the exception of military mining bases, never seem to be a tactical priority. I assume dreadknought is just trying to think of ways to make starbases more attractive targets in war, which I would also agree with. But how to do that, I don't know. They should at least give bonuses to ships in orbit... Not that it would matter because the

I agree with splitting up the intelligence-gathering and sabotage functions, they really aren't all that related, except that you first need intelligence to tell the saboteurs what to destroy. Which makes the current spy system completely backwards, actually. I favor the idea of expanding the role of sensors, so that you could equip ships with special sensor modules that can gather info on enemy planets in range. The idea of an "Observer" type starbase particularly appeals to me, like the "sp

If Hell is not a place of punishment, but a place that is not with God, then to me, that sounds quite nice... What have you got against God? In my opinion, those who fear God are those who do not yet know him. I've said in another post before, but Richard Dawkins book was a real eye opener to me, I was atheist before, but after reading it, I do everything to push all faiths away. If you are refe

isnt the sun a form of energy. and its got mass and form. energy is just atoms and electrons. wich both have mass and form. The Sun is a source of energy. The fusion of its atoms releases photons (energy). The Sun itself is atoms (mass), like you said, not energy.

- Heaven and hell are not physical places. It's not white fluffy clouds and pits of fire. They are simply states of your soul after you die... ...The basic idea is that God doesn't choose to interfere in your determination of whether or not to be saved. The intended state of a person's soul is to be without sin, and if you are in that state when the world ends then you will return to God ("Heaven"). If you are not in that state, then you can't be one with God becau
