Decided I wanted to play a few rounds again after about a year off, and so I downloaded Galciv 2, and the DA upgrade, Installed the latest patch (1.80g) and started to goto town. On my second game (Large/Normal/Challenging/No surrender) The terrans declared war on me- I mobilized and most of the war went like you'd expect on Challenging- Our Fleets would met, on to the next fight. Near the end of the war, half the ships on the opposing side would be invisible, and I found that if I engaged a fle

Hey Orcas- I see we've fallen to 3rd- I've been gone about 8 months now, so I have some questions since they can never seem to leave the game the same , with Dark Avatar is the scoring system about the same as it always was? Meaning Gigantic/abundant/scattered/hardest level you want to put up with = the best w

Hmm... I was reading this again- It strikes me there is alot of misunderstandings about Isreal and how she was formed... Jews have been in the 'holy land' ever since the so called 'scattering'. The creation of Isreal was seriously proposed after the close of WWI, Since when the Allies won, it caused the crumbling of the Axis powers. (Germany, Bulgaria, Austria and the Ottoman Empire ) It is always intresting to look at maps drawn in 1

How about the classic "America is Bankrupt Theroy"? I have a brother that really believes this... lol it goes something like this: "back in about 1916, America needed to raise the funds to fight World War I. They didn't have them, so they borrowed the money from the world banks (Enter large amount here), and agreed to pay the bankers back over 50 years at XX intrest- Also one of the conditions was the Woodrow Wilson would start up a forum to unite the nations of the world, this enablin

And what do you think this thread will do to solve your problem? You just can't simply ignore them? Personally, I have fun with them when they come to my door. I invite them in, and within 15 minutes I never have to worry about them again. lol- I'm with ya, I like debating other religons with them and quiz them on there und

Just ran a test on my old athlon xp 2.0 (4 year old computer) It does 5,237 MIPS (Million Instructions Per Second). Or 5.237 BILLION caculations a second. My old computer could do the caluclations I have suggested in less then 2 seconds for all players. 2 second. I repeat: All players togather HUMAN & ALL AI's -2 second. So for the changes I suggest even the slowest 900 mhz Celeron could do that in no more then 10 seconds on a Gigantic Map/Abudant everything. If you doubt it, go crunch the

It is just like in Civ, one has to take care of those experienced ships, and upgrade them, and you will have one awesome attack force. I respectively disagree. A fleet of my Rookie Battleships from my end game would smoke your wasps. In the end, My Battleships normally have 200 space points for armament. Sporting sexy defensive scores of well o

9 Races, Tiny Galaxy, Rare habitables I always found that setting easy- I belive that was my first Obscene win... It gets so crowded the AI doesn't have a chance... Make a run to Troop Transports and swarm them- Once you capture 3 or 4 planets, your 200-300% larger then the AI- Once you get 7-10 planets under your control the game is ove

Civ 5? Is out??? And I wasn’t informed??? Man talk about being out of the loop… Like I said, these things where listed in the order of theoretical ease to implement. I never said 3 and 4 would be easy. Thou I have come up with a couple of answers for you. Planet build orders would be easiest fixed thru set scripting, but from what I’ve read here Brad doesn’t want to do that. Defensive capacity of the planet is really a no factor in most cases. George S. Patton said somet

How about Telegard D&D? Where you had down in the dungeon and kill stuff as the impressive looking 'X' and the bad Creatures where scary "O"'s... Don't know if you could have called it a TBS, since if you waited to long the game would move... If I recall I think the basic command lines looked like this: 10 REM ***Command wait loop*** 20 For I=30 30 Get a$ 40 if a$ > 50 Next I So after 30 operations if you hadn't hit a key the game would move... Lets see, I got it back when it first came out, played it maybe a month but put it away because the first attacker bonus made it way to easy- Picked it up again 3 months ago when I was promoted to trophy Husband (got to stay home while the wife supported me in a life style to which I've become a custom) So I played it non-stop for 3 months. But now I had to go back to work, and since I have to play huge games to get high metascore's I've kinda of lost intrest... So I've got perhaps - 560 hours

Usually when a political party wins the presidential elections they also get power in congress, and Congress gets quite a lot of power. That is not entirly true- Going back LBJ, the dem's controled all 3 branches- then came Nixon and Ford (have to chuckle when I think of Ford...), the Dems controled Senate and Congress then. Think Carter had de

I’ve read through the Dark Avatar posts looking for these thoughts; I could not find them, so please forgive me, if these things have been mentioned before. Here are just a few things that after a lot of thought, would seem to add to the game- These suggestions are listed by there theoretical ease to implement 1) Since it has been determined that the only advantage a ship gets from experience is more hit points- which by the mid game are worthless, because ships attack values far excee

Hey this sounds like something I've had happen to me... (three times now) The only time the crash has been so predictable is when I've punked some race out of all there money and there influence points... (Happened to me even after punking out a minor race) Now I don't know, but if thats what you did, you can give back *some* money and influence and sneak thru to the next turn... Well- It worked once for me...

While I agree this is a dead horse, and the word from Brad 'the man' Frogboy is no-way- I was just curious on why there is a carrier in the default gfx/model folder- If ya don't belive me, its there in this location- I lie not C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Gfx\Models and look for the S0_carrier files. They'll be three of them. You can even get it into the game. Thou it looks like a half finished model...
