At high enough levels, the AI gets bonusees to pretty much *everything*. I kinda figured they did... Thou I am not sure what bonuses they get on the masochistics level. (where I encounterd that ship) And it really didn't do the AI any good. Sure they got to pick off some of my Huge sized defensive ships with them, but I simply mass pr

Oh, the Blank Hyperdrive and Ultra support should be just from the Ultimate Design Freedom Mod v1.1 by Rasori, which you can download from Galciv2 (Takes away the graphics for the unit. Makes the ships look sleek. (Good if you use models like I do (like Star Trek/Star Wars/Farscape/etc...) But they still have the same size/cost/performance ratio that there graphic counterpart has- Or atleast I get charg
Here I am playing along, minding my own buisness, when the Korx declare war on me just as I'm finish breaking Lord Vega's back, and causing him to cry for mercy. So I settle for peace (Getting his Diplomatic Translators) And reverse the fleets for a fight on the other side of my boarders. (Gigantic Map/9 opponents/Masochistics Level) After 5 long weeks at 29 p/w speeds, my battleships and there destroyer escorts arrive on the scene- And what do I find??? Why these guys: And lots of 'm <br/
I'd have to agree with the large/huge hulled ships. I play on a Gigantic map, level set at Crippling or higher and all 8 opponents. Once I get a Huge or Large ship, I seem to always slap 4 engines, a few guns- (no more then 4 offensive weapons) and the rest Defense. In the game I'm playing now, my normal huge ships are rated about 48/80 with a movement of 28. I find that just 2 or 3 of those ships by themselves (going solo- no fleet support) is more then the AI can handle. The fighters/frig
The carrier idea would work fine (bring on the Galectica!), imho, if they allowed a tech branch that would allow for aquiring multiple targets on hulls that are Medium sized or larger. This would give Starbases, Medium, large and huge ships a fighting chance against fighter swarms. You could even have a limit on how many targets each ship can acquire in a turn based on its hull size. Ah... to dream
Found what I needed to know here; https://www.galciv2.com/mods/gc2modsdoc.htm#TheModsFolder Now, I just have to figure out how make my own models, so I can have the Planet Express ship (Futurama) and a Fringi Maurander for my Frieghters... If only the Music folder was a little more friendly... If anyone has any helpful ideas for the first time tinker modder- please let me know thou
Thanks for your answer Kryo, and I posted this there at the same time I posted this here. But since I figured this was a general mod question anyway- namely being, how do you change the core ships inside the default mod directory? I have got it to work with the default frieghter, colony, sensor, etc- by simply messing around. Ah- now i can have Klingons, Federation and Romulan ships all in the same fleet... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="abs
Downloaded the new Star Trek mod from http://trekgalciv.awardspace.com/index.htm and it works great for a beta. I've been trying to move them over to a copy of the Default mod directory, then I copied the Gfx\Models folder, the Gfx\Thumbnails folder and the Data\ShipCfg Folder to the newly created Mod foler... It works. My question is where the heck are the core ships hid in the mod folder? I'd like to change the default tiny, small, med ships. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I
Military rating needs to be altered to include number of planets each side has and industrial capacity. This would give a more accurate guide to how powerful everyone is in the game. Good thought... Would give for a much more accurate rating. Hopefuly Stardock sees your post and acts on it. Nothing gets my goat more then when I'm 10 weeks
Wow! Cool Mod! Keep up the good work!
you might need to go download the a utility to unzip it... My fav for .rar files is winrar, you can get that here: http://www.rarlab.com/ (only my favorite because its easy to remember and easy to find to download) And unzip it... Don't know past that, I'm downloading it as I type this
the latest beta version of 1.3 brings with it an adjustment to the way component sizes work, which will give you considerably more room on all your designs when you have resarched some miniturization. Parts are still mostl
This is probably more of a rant then anything- But it irks me when I go to build a Huge hulled ship and find I have to give up 40% more space for the weapons then I would on a tiny ship... Or 27ish% more then my bread and butter ships the small hull ones... This is probably a pointless gripe on my part, and I should just learn to get over it, but an automated Vulcan gun is going to take as much space if its on a Naval Frigate or a Aircraft carrier. Not to mention it seriously cuts down on my
rotfl great read, and good work
Luck had little to do with the Hood's demise. The ship had some fairly decisive flaws. Like a gaping hole in it's hull? Actually I remember reading up on it a while ago. Wasn't the Hood spending all of its time on tour around the world ("Hey look at our spiffy battleship!") and as a result, its armor never got upgraded My understanding
Or it could be that ATI and Nvidia code there chipsets in such away as to cause problems. the old a7n266-vm/aa I'm running, I modded it so I could change the FSB by jumpers- With one stick of memory in, I can push 181fsb- and push my Barton to 2.4 ghz- but if I drop an ATI card into it, it kicks my FSB back to 133... Of course so did the sis AGP card I dug up- lol. The old ti4600, 5700le or 6600gt I have, won't do that. Never played with an ATI chipset before... So I can't vouch for them.
You don't need to much to play this game- I'm running on an old Homebuilt server Athlon XP-m Barton XP2600 2ghz (133fsb) (2 years old) a7n266-vm motherboard (5 years old) 1 gig of Memory (DDR266) (3 years old/not double pumped) 128mb Geforce2 ti4600 (Current Card) (4 years old) Have ran it on the onboard Graphics 32mb Geforce2 MX (runs, but leads to choppy sound) (5 years old) 80 gb hard drive (System Drive) (3 years old) 640 gb Raid Drive (Media Dr
