... my main personal beef is with the entire UI for the tech tree. I've never understood why it's divided into two separate screens like that. The default view doesn't show enough of the tree in that small window at the bottom, and when you go to the full view, you can't get the info you get on the default view. It's crazy. Why can't we get all the info we need for the tech tree in one window?
In the maximized view of the tech tree screen, you can right-click individual tec

They have only just recently come out with the Elite version of the 360. That's the one everyone is telling you to not get. I'd agree that, for an 11 year old, it's probably not necessary. When shopping, you'll know it's the one not to get because it'll be black instead of white. This can help you to quickly narrow down what you are looking for. I have had the Xbox 360 version everyone here is suggesting for awhile now. I like it, and it sure is nice having t
The new one we provide in a future update will just replace (overwrite) the one you currently have, regardless of whether or not you have modified it from its original form. -C
Although the extra characters do not affect things when we read in the file, the double dashes have been removed since it is affecting you guys. Thanks for the heads up. The change will be reflected in a future update. Charles
Found and fixed. Thanks for the heads up. The change will be in our next update. ~Charles
Kryo rocks! Indeed!
No prob. GW. ~C
Yeah, it turns out that the problem was with termonology. We were talking about two different things. I was talking about income before expenses (gross income), and G. W. was talking about income or loss after expenses (net). I had realized this after I had left work yesterday, but was unable to get to a computer until just now. I see several of you have pointed it out now. Espionage is a percentage of your gross income and counts as an expense. Naturally, if
I read JonSarik to mean "if you leave the slider alone and your economy grows, you'll be spending more BC." Yeah, that's how I took it as well. In fact, that's almost exactly what my wording means: "The higher your income, the more money goes towards espionage if the slider stays in the same position." I was simply confirming and offeri
Say you pay 100BC per tern, with one point on espionage (+5%) 105BC would be used in the calculations on how much more money you need to spend to get the next spy. This is indeed how it works, except as Mistralok pointed out, the values you can choose from are ADVANCED (15%) for 1 ability point, and GIFTED (30%) for 2 ability points. Though I
The slider just sets a percentage and that's why it continues to grow, I think. The espionage slider is a means to set a percentage of income to spend on espionage. Most races can only spend up to 25% of income with the slider maxed. The Krynn or a custom race with the super ability "Super Spy" is allowed to spend up to 35% of their
One way to fix this problem is: When you get down to only 1 week left until your next agent, turn espionage spending down as much as you can while still having only 1 week left. This will ensure you're not losing any leftover money. On the other hand, we have decided that this adds too much micro-management. Now, any money that is leftover from earning an agent will simply be put back in the treasury instead of being lost altogether or used towards the cost of the following
Thanks for finding this bug Scintor. Because of your description I was able to reproduce, fix, and then verify the fix very easily. Much praise for your descriptive explanation of how you encountered the bug, and having the foresight to check to see that it happens consistently in this manner. Fix will be in the next build. Regards, Charles
Could you plaese fix the bug where i get this (super) technologies by just conquering an enemy planet as well. "Counter Espionage" is a tech you can research on your own after getting to "Advanced Diplomacy." While I agree, it is a starting tech for a civ with the "Super Spy" super ability, it is not any different than t
If you are playing the latest version of the Beta, and have a gamesave that illistrates this problem, please email it along with your description of the problem to Thanks, Charles
...I recieved a trade request [and] the text of the message said they wanted my Interstellar Governments for thier Counter Espionage Center techs. Except in the trade boxes at the bottom only my interstallar governments appeared ( no counter espionage)... I didnt recieve the counter espionage tech. Some turns later, same thing only this time it was the Iconians... </tr
The Counter-Espionage tech is a non-tradeable technology. This is the reason it doesn't show up in the listbox, and the reason you do not get it when you accept the trade. I found and fixed the problem in the code where it slipped through and was offered up for trade. So it'll be in the next build of the game. Thanks for tracking it down and giving us feedback! ~Charles
A civ that has the Super Ability: "Super Spy" starts out with the Counter Espionage technology, which enables them to build the Counter Espionage improvement on their planets right away. They also start out with an agent to use right away. You can only have one Counter Espionage improvement per planet after you get the required tech, and as its description indicates, it prevents spies from being placed on that planet from that point forward. It intentionally does not get
As you said... I was lucky enough to have a bunch of transports ready to go and invade them. If it had happened at another time in the game, you might not have had such an easy time. I guess you lucked out.
In the Planetimprovements.xml file there is a new tag for Dark Avatar which is "CanHaveAgents" and can have a value of 1 or 0. So if you wanted to keep people from putting agents on farms you'd just have to change that value to 0 for all the farm improvements. This is true, just like you could also change the bonus amounts to your economy for marke
Both of these issues have been fixed and will be in the next iteration of the beta build. Thanks for bug-hunting! Charles
Yeah we purposely prevent espionage on minor races.
We have tweaked the way you level up in espionage on each race. It will be in the next iteration of the build. I think most of you will be happy with the results. Thanks for all the thoughts and ideas, they have proved to be quite useful. And thanks for playing! Charles
The average human can survive 4-5 weeks without food as long as there is shelter and water. If you were to decommision your own farm, on one of your own planets, you would also lose it's population cap benefits, and any population that your planet has over the new population. It works the same way if an agent is on your f
