The best way, of course, is to take them out before they get a chance to build any ships. I know this well. However, in the game in question, this is not an option. It is still early in the game, and I am leading in technology, but have nothing even close to the level I would need to take on even the weakest orbiting Dread Lord ships. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Wow, Neilo... sorry to see you give up the job. You've done a great job. Thank you for the nomination, MottiKhan, but I'm afraid I will have to decline, for the same reasons I declined back in the beginning. Too busy, yadda yadda. Also, I fear the direction I would take the league might end up being very different from what most people seem to want, which is not a problem, really, but still. Thanks again for the nomination, though. Good luck to whoever th
I think this would be very useful. The old guide was a great help for me when I started playing this very complicated game. Though I appreciate the complexity, I do think that it turns a lot of people off, people who would otherwise enjoy the game if they stuck with it a bit longer. A new guide should go a long way toward alleviating that issue IMHO.
That's a great pic... where is it from? And which are you, I have to ask? The old gerontocratic looking guys, or the reptilian guy kneeling before them? In any case, good luck with your empire.
Actually. VegJed, why don't you take my spot in team B for this round, since it looks like I will be too busy to get a game in this round. I will be back for the following round, hopefully. Neilo isn't around to approve this, unfortunately, but it seems straightforward enough that I don't think he will mind.
I know that both star trek and star wars have bothans and quarren.
I can find no evidence of these races being in Star Trek. Where are you getting that from?
You get more points from a small hull with a single point of beam attack than you do from a cargo hull with the same single point of beam attack. But you get far more points for a cargo hull with 10 phasors on it than you get from a small hull with 2 phasors on it.
Hmm. Why not use missile weapons with cargos, then, if we're just trying to boost the attack power? As you know, a 2pt missile weapon is accessible very early in the game, without much investment in research.
One empire is enough for me, but can I be Eris anyway? If so, I have a prize for the best Olympian god in the empire: a golden apple! You will have to decide amongst yourselves who deserves it the most. OK, go.
I keep hearing good things about this game.
Now i'm all for protesting against war, in any form, but once the troops of your nation are there shedding their blood, you support them, weather you agree with their deployment or not, that is a moot point at that time, they are there...show them your support. I don't so much mind being penalized for a custom race, but, if that is the case, I'd rather not have my custom races show up as opponents when I am not playing them. They often just become fodder for the AI and unbalance the game.

There is absolutely *nothing* wrong with DEVO. (Maybe showing my age a bit, like starting the Gerontocracy wasn't a big clue.)
Wyndstar, i have placed you in a team mate.....Blade Runners please welcome Wyndstar to your team.
Excellent. Welcome to team B.
I have an idea for conditions for an upcoming league game, maybe even this one, if there's time: You must start with one of the evil races, but must also be good-aligned at the end of the game. This should be interesting since most prefer evil or neutral. Additionally, "going good" might itself be a challenge, as you are forced to pick the crappiest ethical choices, the most useless bonuses, etc (subtle hint to Stardock there, heh). You also won't be able to end your game too e
Mumblefratz, just to confirm, are you still playing DL-only games?
It would be nice to see a "Are you sure you want to bankrupt your empire to buy one lousy ship?" warning message -- it's a very easy mistake to make.
The league can be fun, sure. You may recall that the league was my idea to start with, actually, though the idea has morphed quite a bit since then. The goal I envisioned, ie. making empire scores more meaningful has been accomplished somewhat, I suppose, but is still hampered by the actual scoring system itself being a bit off-balance IMHO. I am hoping that this is something that will be addressed in TA, especially with the introduction of special tournament games, which I think will be a great
Hi GW... I'm still here, but playing the game much less than I used to. I have played a few beta games, but have been finding them to be more frustrating than fun. Think I just need a bit of a break...
Team B officially surrenders to Piznit.

Interesting stuff. I was always curious what the story behind these guys was, as they didn't get any coverage in the DA campaign. If the Krynn are keeping their current super ability, I'd like to see some kind of backstory justification for it. Espionage doesn't really seem to mesh with what you've written here. Then again, Super Spy is one of the weaker super abilities, so maybe it can be replaced with something more thematically appropriate. Perhaps you could give them an inc

Myself, I would use it for an economic capital. However, 36 is a LOT of space, so I might branch off into some industry as well.
