Hey guys, hope everything is well with all of you. I haven't been playing GalCiv2 much lately, I'm afraid, but thought I would pop in to see how you're all doing. (Well, actually, also to see if there was any reason my Sacred 2 was taking forever to download).
One of my complaints has always been that Senator status doesnt grant any administrative abilities, other than approving new members if the empire isnt "open". They should at least be able to send invites in my opinion. Although, anyone could send out invites over PMs, if not the official Metaverse invites, so that is always an option too.
It should already be open, at least as far as clicking to join. The age limitations aren't hard-coded in, of course, nor do I ask

Glad to hear it, particlewave. I only have the one character as well. Never really made sense to me to have more than one, other than for practical purposes for the league, and that makes less sense now than it did. All that said, I'm so busy with my new job in a new city (I just moved back to Toronto) that I barely have time to play, much less contribute much to our little empire. I don't know if there's a way to sign the empire over to someone who is able to pay more attention

I think we should have an election in order to be fair. That said, my vote goes to KP. However, I'm afraid I will have to withdraw from the league for the time being. Major changes in my life lately provide very little time for gaming. I'm really happy, though, that all of you have managed to take my idea of a league and make it into a successful ongoing affair. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised by that, too, but good on you regardless. Perhaps when I have some free time I will pop

The second one, not so much -- didn't really make a lot of sense to me. I second the Vinge suggestion heartily -- those are some of the best science fiction books I've read, and v
Because we were there for weapons not dead people.
How'd that work out for you, danielost? I see your invasion has added plenty to the piles of dead people, however. Great job.
The media wouldn't want to give bush a freeby.
And why should they? If anything, their job is to do the opposite. However, near as I can tell, the media were mostly cheerleading for Bush's illegal invasion, including the so called liberal

If so, please show us. I really am surprised at how bloodthirsty most of you lot are. And for no reason at all. Quite disturbing really.

Can someone please tell me what Iran has done, exactly, to deserve being "nuked until they glow"? 1) Did Ahmadinejad say that all Jews must die, the Holocaust was a myth, destroy Israel, etc.? If you translate the original Parsi, what he said was very different, and not nearly as provocative. You can read more about that here: [link]http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article14733.htm[/link] 2) Are they pursuing nuclear weapons? People keep accusing them of being a theocra

Last I checked, minor civs are neither affected by influence, nor does their influence affect anything, so you're best off just ignoring their influence starbases altogether, other than to wonder why they bother. I guess if they were smarter, they'd be considered a major race.

Reasonable assumptions, to be sure. However, I'm not sure it's common sense to set up a reporting system that emails so many people without making it clear what is expected of those reporting. I was certainly surprised to hear that it was set up that way and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Also, on your last note, if a person is being harassed/victimized by another poster -- which has been happening a lot around here lately -- I should think it well within their rights to be the

In another thread, Kryo has just informed us that using the Report button "sends emails to about 20 people. Thus the warning of consequences for frivolous reports." I've used the button a few times in the past, without knowing that I was spamming all of Stardock -- sorry about that! For future reference, I'd like to know what constitutes a "frivolous report", and under what circumstances we should be using the report function. -- Spamming? -- Flaming fellow

Whoa, really? I've used it to report spammers. Didn't realize that I myself was spamming when I did it! That said, I despise spammers, as I'm sure most people do. So what exactly is considered report-worthy?
I have never built a research Coordinator in a ZYW, i don't think I've even researched it. I'll try it though, good suggestion, if i can remember where it comes available.
Well, I think you get it at the same time you get the research buildings showing on your planet, no? Or maybe the one before it. They all look the same to me at this point, I'm afraid. Anyway, a tech building on both precursors plus one research coordinator would net you a lot more RP than two extra res

If I may ask a few questions... 1) Why are you guys building the political capital? Doesn't seem like it would help much with this strategy, as far as I can see, given the need for speed. 2) In that game, why build tech buildings on the non-precursor libraries? I would think those two tiles, the tech cap, and maybe a research coordinator would be sufficient, not to mention quicker.

Whoa. Two precursor libraries? I'm salivating here...

Thanks, everyone. I was helped by the class 26 planet right beside Earth, which shared a system with an 11, 10, and 6. I lease-bought some colony ships, and only just managed to colonize all but the 6-cap, which I left for the greedy Altarians, who were all over the place by that point -- Altaria was about 8 moves away from Earth, the closest I've ever seen two starting capitals. The other thing that really helped me was the Terran's Super Diplomacy, which I'm almost convinced

I'm going to be offline for a while, starting next week -- not sure for how long. So I'm submitting my game now, for fear that I might miss the deadline. The score isn't fantastic, but it is my first Masochistic game win, so I'm pretty happy with it (I do have a suicidal tech victory but that doesn't really count IMHO). I apologize for adding more to your to-do list, Stardockers, but nobody seems to have mentioned the espionage bug I discovered here: https://forums.galciv2.com/312465 I do still have the saved game file to send you if you need it. Just tell me where to send it.
