We're still "only" 7th on the AltMeta
We were already pretty close to surpassing the Overmind -- mostly inactive, as far as I can tell -- but we're quite a ways from overcoming our next target: the Tyranny of Evil.
Now if only our venerably reluctant emporer could post a game soon...
Actually, I've submitted four games since TotA came out.

Please welcome our latest member, mightygoobi. Goobi has been responsible for some of the most interesting posts in the last few weeks, in the China thread and others. I think he will make a worthy addition to our ancient empire. I also edited the text in the initial post to make it more current. We're not really a new empire any more, after all.

Geez, SpacePony, I leave you alone for a week and you start making all kinds of sense. What happened? :-) Did you happen to witness any examples of corporations employing prisonors to work at drastically reduced wages? I know a lot of call centres are now being run out of American prisons (or small northern Ontario towns, which are kind of like prisons) as well as the ubiquitous "license plate" type of manufacturing. I sometimes wonder if the reason there are so many undeserving people
*out slam goes the theories or realizations*
I'm not really sure what that means, actually... sorry.
I wasn't giving an advice, for that i'd need the saved game - thorough observations of the actual context - evaluation of the overall status of a number of highly variable conditions -- then, and only then - would possibly give some advice (good, bad, neutral or inspired by personal experience only!).
Of course, that goes without
thanks ghostwes I never thought of getting rid of the factories after I have finished building up the planet can save a lot of expenses and free up some space too.
You're welcome, of course, but I should add a caveat: I almost always leave at least one factory on my economic planets, sometimes two. Even after the rest of the planet is developed as much as it can be, I still need it to serve a purpose other than as a money-maker: to generate transports. In the end-game, I

I don't mean to flame you, Zyxpsilon, but that's some pretty horrible advice you're giving out there, IMHO.
Usually to me (and depending on many other factors or situations) this 26PQ sounds like the perfect steady supplier of attack Fleets; focused on Factories, and cranking out the numbers!
It wouldn't hurt to have a little bit of industry going on -- to crank out transports and freighters -- but to focus a size 26 planet on industry alone is kind of nutty.<br

Won't let me edit, so I'll continue here... I would build the recruiting centre first, then the factories, then the starport (so you can use the planet to crank out freighters or constructors while you wait).
I am thinking, should I just fill this entire planet up with research?
Having a lot of real estate helps you to focus on either tech, industry or economy, but the bigger the planet is, the more economic focus starts to make sense. I always
Now that Particlewave mentions alliances, the thing I find most annoying about having tech trading off is that some races won't research the alliance tech, preventing me from getting an alliance with them in spite of close relations.
I usually just gift the alliance tech to the AI, and then ask for an alliance. Err, actually, I usually slaughter all of the AI's mercilessly, on principle, but if I were to seek an alliance, I would gift it to them. Um

I was under the impression that no mods were metaverse-compatible as they would unbalance things too much (other than cosmetic ones, I guess). I know the "advanced race configration" or ARC is legal (or was legal as of DA), and that's kind of like a mod, but I haven't played around with it. Search the forums for ARC, if you're interested. By the way, I note that you are not presently in a metaverse empire, mightygoobi. My own empire, the Gerontocracy, would love to have you join us, if

Any objections if we lower the minimum age to 30 instead of 35? Actually, I've been mistakenly telling people it was 30 anyway... oops :-)
ru sure it wasn't the mega spy event?
Yes. Anyway, those spies all show up in the same turn, if I'm not mistaken. These were added in the normal way.
I kind of assumed you were in post-beta volunteer mode, not complaining customer mode.
About half and half, I would say. While I am certainly impressed with the expansion and the content that it added to the game, I am not so impressed with some of the bugs that have been encountered, nor that it will take Stardock finishing another, different game before these bugs are addressed. I'm also kind of annoyed that certain tweaks were not made, despite the fact

Sadly, none of this was implemented in TA (other than 13, which was implemented in DA, thankfully).

Oh, should I do a support ticket as well, then? I figured this would be enough to get some attention from Stardock. Given the number of game-breaking bugs people are finding, I really hope somebody tackles these soon.

I'm sure many of you have noticed the increased use of spies by the AI in TotA. What I had assumed was simply more aggressive and intelligent behaviour may in fact be a bug of some sort. I just finished a game where I was just hammered by spies from the mid-game on. Even with my espionage slider set to max, I could build one spy every few turns while my enemies were laying them on me two or three per turn. At the highest, I think there were about 55 or so spies on my planets, with little
On start up it says something like config/system is corrupt. Its either a virus, which means a hard drive wipe, or I need a new battery for my motheboard.
What exactly does it say? I had a similar error, which I now forget, and the problem ended up being a simple one-line command from the DOS prompt, followed by a restart. Anyway, don't be so sure that you need to format or start replacing hardware. Google is your friend.

I can't say that I am a big fan of rap/hip-hop, generally, but Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back is still one of my favourite albums of all time. Other favourites include Galaxie 500, Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Velvet Underground, Billy Bragg, Bauhaus, Big Black, Dead Can Dance, The Prids, Mission of Burma, The The, Interpol, David Bowie, Talking Heads, The Smiths, Michael Franti, Massive Attack, Skinny Puppy, Fi

I suppose you can be excused for your opinions on parenting and warfare. So, yes, I'll wait until you're older and have more of an education, and then ask you the question again, heh.
